  • The JHS sounds worse, but costs more. Pretty easy decision to make.

I'm not a fan of Josh or JHS, but this pedal seemed particularly low-effort & low quality. I'll give it the benefit of the doubt & assume the tone settings were not dialed in. Because each version sounded equally muddy, bland, and uninspiring.

As opposed to the OG RAT which sounds huge and gnarly. A tone like that is perfect for just playing around and coming up with gnarly bass riffs. That's what I mean by an inspiring tone. It inspires you to play better, differently, or perhaps just more frequently because it sounds so good. Either which way, your playing is going to improve.

Everyone's first bass or guit-fiddle amplifier should come with a DS-1, an HM-2, a RAT, and a Big Muff. These tones are essential & the sooner you begin to master them, the better.

With the proliferation of affordable digital modeling amps like the Boss Katana it seems my dream is becoming a reality. For example, a 50watt Katana can be had for $300 or cheaper on sale. And it comes with all 4 of those distortion/fuzz pedals as built-in effects. Along with like 60 others from modulation to reverb & delay. It's loud enough to gig and has a .5watt mode for practicing in your bedroom.

If you're looking to upgrade to your first real Big Boy amp, you really can't go wrong with a Katana.

I would just make sure to buy it new so you can have a warranty. Digital amps are relatively new technology compared to solid-state or tube amps and they are also much more difficult & expensive to repair. Keep that in mind. A minor glitch could basically make the amp worthless because the cost of fixing it will be more than just buying a new one. So just make sure you have a warranty.

  • I like JHS, but honestly I think the original sounded best. And for a 3rd the price, it’s a pretty solid option. Nice demo.

  • The JHS doesn't sound to good except the last position sounds great. The JHS guy has used car salesman vibes. Like he thinks he is pulling a con on you. Creep.

  • This is pretty awesome. I'd love to run this in a Bi-amped / parallell processed setup for the nice punchy lows as well as the grind.

  • Mm unsubscribing, this format( vertical phone format) does not project well on tablets and iPad’s
