I don't actually mind 9s on Drop D or D Standard but I'll have to try some 10s..
9s are just fine for drop d. I have 9.5 on my guitar that it’s drop c and I find them a bit stiff. 9s all day for everything
All depends on scale length tbf.
I play extremely light string so 10.5s in drop C to me thoes are for drop C but an octive down
What about for a 7 string guitar with an Evertune bridge tuned to drop G?
11 to 52 D'addario NYXL works for D and C for me.
I use a 12-80 on my 7 string tuned to drop E
The KoRn Dunlap strings .10-.63 is pretty nice got a nice tone in drop A and A standard
Appreciate the info
9-48 – Standart E/drop D, 10-52 – Eb/Drop C#, 11-56 – D/Drop C, 12-60 – C#/Drop B. Lowering the tune by half a tone, the upper strings +1, the lower strings +4. In Drop-tuning, the 6th string can be slightly thicker to compensate the tension.
12-56 on a Les Paul scale here, stayed stable even under Drop A and G#
Drop G on 7? ( gdgcfad )
If I have a Hetfield LTD Vulture, am I able to find strings that suit playing in E standard as well as Drop C?
Jesus loves u
My 26.5" scale 7 string I use light 11-56 in drop A and it's perfect.
Thanks for sharing good information
Gotta check it out.
Drop E in 6 strings i use 0.80 – 0.16
I use standard 10-46 for Drop D on my Jackson Kelly
10-46 is completely fine for Standard as well as Drop D, in my opinion. For Eb/Drop C#, 11-48 or D'addario 11-49 is also fine.
Where the problems start for me in Drop D is 9-42, which for me is way too floppy.
But some pro players use 8s in Eb, so it really just depends on your hands.
You really don't need to go so thick (30-42-52) in plain standard 440 Drop D. But if it feels right for you, then go for it, but just saying that 10-46 is plenty tight for Drop D for most any normal sized to even larger hands.
Drop C 9-44
best strings for down tuning, not ernie ball
I can't stand playing with these thick strings and high tension. I think it also depends what kind of metal you're playing. If you're playing sludge or doom you can stay loose and lighten.
I’m currently experimenting with drop tunings using the “Burly Slinky” 11-52 set, but have a pack of “Mammoth Slinky” 12-62 that I hope will work well for B standard tuning on my 6 string.
R.i.p standard ????
He looks like dude from born of osiris
Ernie balls 10-48 is perfect for drop D tuning. That's my current setup and it feels perfect
This is essential information thank you sir
I'm still doing it on regular
NO DROP G?!?!
What are the best strings for playing Metallica songs that are in 444 or 445 hz
I use burly slinky’s (11-52s) on my snakebyte in E standard
I use the second pack
Hey kids, don’t take advice from adults who collect toys. It’s a major red flag for a grown man to own a wall of dolls.
You can use any gauge for any tuning
In my personal opinion using a 60 for drop d. And 70 for drop A is absolutely ridiculous but thats just my opinion
