Is the US made Texan worth the money ?
Not even a Gig bag
JP Have you ever reviewed the Epiphone Hummingbird Limited Edition? Just wondering if it is a good cheaper beginners guitar for my grandson
i have the slash of guns and roses gibson j45 with a bigger neck you should review. its a good one.
Hey JP, can you do an in depth review on the Gibson Songwriter please
Thanks for the advice
Have you ever played the 2006 Epiphone AJ 500mns. It is all solid wood, all the things we all like and yes, Made in China. If you can, try one. I would love to hear your review.

Another educational vid JP – thank you! I am on the fence – I own a 1983 Gibson Gospel and love the Gibson sound – especially low end resonant tone. Thinking of an Epi but which one? First IBG or Master Built? Second which one? Exellente Frontier Texan Hummingbird J45 J200? Finger style with no pick mostly. What would you get if you could only afford one? Also which K&K do you swap for the Fishman Sonotone? Thanks – love your channel!
Beautiful SOUNDING GUITAR YES IT HAS THAT SOUND NOT TO BASS HEAVY GOT THAT ATTACK
One of the best guitars I loved playing in the humble Long & McQuade, has been the Epiphone EL-00 Pro. I would love for them to get an example of the Texan and Frontier.
I finally got this guitar and compared this Masterbilt Texan to my 1965 Texan (made in Kalamazoo USA) and although there are differences, this guitar is well worth the price. It's actually, in my opinion, underpriced (Just like all the guitars in the Masterbuilt lineup and the "Inspired by Gibson" lineup) thankfully…lol… Again, great video.
I always enjoy these reviews for many reasons, but the main one is that JD is one of the few people that goes beyond the usual strumming that most reviewers do, and knows how to play and bring out the tones and characteristics that the guitars have, so you really get a good idea of what a guitar is really capable of.
Crapaphone. Your still at the toystore. Tool store at Gibson
Thanks for this review guitar brother John !????????????????????????
"The touch of the Master's hand" JP I'm convinced you could take any cheap guitar off the rack and make it sound amazing, but put one of these "inspired by…" in your hands? and Whoa Nelly!
I have a $350 US Texan which is really good. Perhaps one of the earliest inspired by models. Is yours what they call a Masterbuilt? Thus costlier?
Texans have longer scales than most!
Nice review! Wish the nutwidth wasn't so dainty!
I've had my new Epiphone Inspired by Gibson J-45 that I purchased after watching your other video.
Thanks so much for your reviews – this guitar is gorgeous and sounds fantastic.
What do you think about the Masterbilt Texan?
The sire 7 series cost £699 new and theyre so praised by the top guitarist on Wikipedia. He is rated as the worlds best accoustic player. Anderton music on Guildford uk has a review of these sires. The series 3 are cheaper at £299 and also are great for the price. They were blown away at the sound quality, set up for the price. I must try out the new epis . Ive been buying old 1980 yamaha japanese made 200 like red label. I had a great yamaha that was an electro accoustic thats the nicest guitar ive had like the ovation but this had artificial bowl bottom with a solid. Spruce top and a totally superb neck. I paid £50 as the amplification unit didnt work but i played it without. It was the 6 model or 600 but yamaha did 5s 7s 9 s of this series in the early to mid 1980s. Ive been buying sigma and epiphone and sqire strats from 90s made in korea all well under $100 us. The EB0 epiphone bass was less than $60 usd only fault was a bashed cracked volume knob that still works
I love luthier work and have restored some pre ww2 violins that are beautifully made with great tone.stringed instruments are my fetish and maybe indian classical ones maybe next
I have mahavishnu orchestre and shakti by john maclaughlin and Gerry Goodman and the great drummer Billy Cobham to thank for that.
The 1970 ft150 ft155 i heard were great. Do you know of them?
Are all of the Texan's built in Bozeman, Montana now? When I search Google, I come up with guitars from around $600 up to $2600. The sticker in JP's Texan says FT79 Masterbuilt and the one I'm looking at says FT79 Masterbuilt Tribute.
The Texan like the Excellente and Frontier are genuine reissues and are not part of the inspired by Gibson range but they are made at the same factory under licence in Indonesia as the IBG range (either Sammick or Cort).
Question. The texan or the frontier? If you had to choose one?
