Vega Trem VT1 Review & Install – The Best Floyd Rose Alternative for Strat Guitars?

In this video, I install and review the Vega Trem VT1 Ultratrem 4-point vibrato bridge, an incredible upgrade for Strat-style guitars that delivers the performance of a Floyd Rose without the headaches. Unlike a Floyd, the Vega Trem requires no routing or permanent modifications, keeps tuning stable without a locking nut (even under heavy abuse), and operates with buttery smooth precision. Made in Spain from high-grade 316 stainless steel, this bridge is engineered to exacting standards and offers a perfect blend of playability, tone, and reliability. After testing one out at their booth at NAMM, I knew I had to get one or two for myself, and they’ve exceeded my expectations. If you’ve been looking for the ultimate tremolo upgrade for your Strat or budget guitar, the Vega Trem VT1 is a serious contender. As an example, I installed this on a $119 Fender Debut Squier Strat to show that you can buy a “good” inexpensive guitar, and use the extra money to upgrade it! If your’e looking for tips and tricks for the VT1, I’ve got those too!

  • I tried this trem on my frankenstrat and it didnt hold tune that well… Gonna throw the VT on a genuine strat to see what happens

  • I’ve used these for over half a decade. I work at guitar center and CONSTANTLY deal with Floyd rose. These are WAYYYYY better. There’s nothing else that even comes close.

  • If this didn't cost nearly as much as any of the budget guitars I might throw it in, I'd probably give it a go. Even more likely if i did use a trem more than I do (which is rarely). You would think they would start making the stock trems more like these since standard ST trems have such a bad rep.

  • It’s cool that you’ve gotten into working on your guitars by yourself! These sound like an awesome upgrade.

  • You can not compare a TREMELLO to a WHAMMY!
    FLOYDS are WHAMMY.
    That bridge is a TREM.

Whammy's do what a Trem can do.
    A Trem CAN NOT Whammy..
    Ffs!
    Pretty basic….

  • I can keep my 6 screw trems in tune for the most part, they're just not that smooth and that's mostly due to the screw-in arms. I do like a nice 2-point trem with a pop-in arm. I used to love Floyds back in the day but now I find them a bit cumbersome in my old age. I would love to put a Vega Trem on one of my guitars but it's just not in my wheelhouse atm. Anyways, stay safe. Erin's getting ready to hit you with some wind & rain if she hasn't already!

  • The Vega Trem VT1 might be the best upgrade I’ve ever put on a budget Strat-style guitar. Do you think it’s worth upgrading your budget guitar with something like this, or would you save for a higher-end instrument instead? Drop your thoughts below!
