so funny suididal tendancies may ormay not be the band for you
RHCP is a bad version of faith no more.
Primus was out by 1989…
The only thing LA is good for has been stealing water from where I was born.
Primus Suck On This and Rush Show Don't Tell both have some wicked bass playing
????????????BILLY GOULD ????????????
Cool version/bass line, but anything off of BSSM is MUCH more epic than this. That was RHCP's and thus Flea's seminal album IMHO.
epic bassline – as a guitar player, still very cool hearing this broken down into its parts like this
Like a Virgin is not 1989.
I was waiting for the whole song.. mde. Still thanks.
This is probably one of the best bass tracks ever. But take apart the Higher ground 12” vocal mix that opens Out in L.A., that bass really rocks ????
This higher ground of a channel being so honest about the mistakes made!
This is the kind of video that first got me excited about SBL. Keep it up Scott!
Hola, bueno pues solo decirte que me abriste el mundo maravilloso ….que maravilla internet. Solo mirándo tus videos empezé a comprender como usar el bajo y todo el potencial.
Solo darte las gracias
I'll never be able to slap
I would like to see scott and ian talk about their own basslines in their session work
Awesome song, great video. There's something about your bass tone on this one that has a bit of an odd effect on me though. I know you're going for Flea, but with that tone I keep hearing Muzz Skillings.
Is this a Vox Pathfinder in the Background?
This was also the first slap bass line I remember learning and, too, played it the wrong way. ????
nooo hace años q no hago slpa y ahora no me sale nada u.u lpm
You're an excellent teacher, Scott. Great lesson!
Sir Psycho Sexy.
Yeah dude! Great tone!
I really like Marcus Miller's version.
Great video, as always Scott! I appreciate how you always pick a good bass and get the right tone for any song you break down.
I heard a little super mario bros in there
RHCP's version of Higher Ground was the first slap song I taught myself to play. What's criminal is how buried in the mix Flea's part is in the song.
Scott, have you heard of the bass work of MISA from Band-Maid? Her work IS worth a listen
Flea looks like a moron with his mouth open.
tu a froid ? ????
These 10 min's clips are the best.
The RHCP version is EPIC! I put this cover at the top of the list of best covers. The huge vocals in the chorus, the head banging bass, funky-rock guitars, slamming drums. It’s just pure, high-octane fuel. What’s cool is that the beat is a shuffle, lke the original. Normally a heavy rock song is straight 1/8 or 1/16.
i may have missed something along the way… but why do you wear the glove.. and when did you start wearing ?
Great video and a song I've been curious about for years. I tried to play it years ago before I could slap. Not the best choice for a beginner to slapping. Now I've seen your video, I'll give it another go. Other sites quote 140 bpm. The key is Em right?
Just curious which software you use for the transcriptions? I use GP7.
This live version ain't bad either: Stevie backed by Steve Gadd and Pino ????????????https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lez47ouVqRg
Scott, you're a great bass player, always been impressed with your facility and tone
There was a really awesome version of ”Higher ground ” with Lawrence and the Late Show Band (lead by Louis Cato on bass). I used to listen to it almost daily, but unfortunately the video was removed from YT.
It's not even the greatest bass line from Mother's Milk, one of the weakest maybe.
Nitpicker here, i know youtube rules about youtube video's title, and the lessons is about beginner friendly slap bass.
But come on this album is contain so much great bass lines, it's peak "early Chili Peppers era" before BSSM.
I don't think the first 4 notes are 4 equal lenght eighth notes
