Awesome tool to help your sound on trombone.
A straw is one of the best tools you can use to help your trombone sound. Do this simple exercise so you get used to creating space between your lips. Pinching our lips is something that a lot of younger players do and it makes is much more difficult to play the instrument. Happy Practicing.

I have the exact same trombone as you
I was taught to do the same thing but with a small section of pvc pipe. Same idea but slightly wider air column so more exaggerated for an open, rich tone. This is what my dad taught me when I first began playing and he has a doctorate so I tend to listen to what he says regarding trombone. ????

as a trombone play before i watched this video i always put the strat throught the mouth peice then took it out and made the sound and did that for years and now im a professional in my opinion also my straw was skinny
Why can't I do it?
I literally quit the trombone because I couldn’t get a clean sound and no one knew why this just fixed it not even joking. Thank you so much I play tube now, but I think I’ll start learning on my free time again.
