I bought this $220 Les Paul on Temu. Unboxing review: Sweet guitar or wall art?
Troy Stetina takes the “Chibson” plunge and checks out a Temu Les Paul guitar. Don’t miss this unboxing and review/demonstration. An amazing deal on a professional musical instrument? Or just a piece of wall art? NOTE: If you choose to buy one of these, you should google the legal implications. It is my understanding that while buying one is not a crime in the US, selling one of them is… EVEN if you inform the buyer that it’s not a ‘real’ Gibson Les Paul. So it follows that this would be a lifetime purchase! In other words, if you take the plunge, you’re stuck with it! Worst case, though, it’s still nice wall art IMO.

isn't TEMU the chinese company that sells cheap crap that is made by slave labor?
Bad wall art.
Just received the same guitar in lemon sunburst yesterday. I was very impressed with the build quality. The only weird thing was the tuner buttons on the fake Klusons were a green color and not white. I'm switching them out. The pickups aren't to bad. I have a set of Lindy Fralin Pure PAF pickups and a control harness with CTS pots and orange drop caps that are going in it, too. A bone nut down the road will go in it but the factory nut was cut pretty good. All in all this guitar for $220 was well worth it. It came out of a dealer in California who is a broker for a factory in China. Shipped to the Midwest in less then a week
Unfortunately more cheap stuff and Internet doesn't support local needs
Iphone made in china ???????? 10Dollar … selling 1000dollar great companies ???? ???? ???? ????
I bought a Chibson lp- sg-firebird-tele from China upgraded the pickups and pots and some hardware
A decent setup and these can compete with the originals!
Have a Byrdland on the way to do some Cat scratch Fever!
Excellent choice! No need to waste money on what corporate call "real". We can do the same with genuine parts. Where do they buy the wood, the spare parts and prime material to make parts… Same shit! Made in U.S.A with goods from all around the world.
Sorry but I'm not with you on this one. What China's doing is grossly illegal, and they do it right on your face, and by buying those products "just to see" we are part of the problem. Want a Les Paul? Buy a …. Les Paul from Gibson! Enough said! I guess I will be a onetime viewer.
i think the materials used are very bad, Will notice that after some months using, problem here, and there, ..
Plastic coating wrap on your pick ups?
I have 5 Chibsons currently – 3 Les Pauls and 2 ES-335s. Each is very different visually and sonically. I have them mainly so that on practice night, everyone can just walk in, bring nothing, and be ready to play. My lead guitarist normally plays a $5k Tobacco Sunburst R9. That now stays at home in a 'safe place'. At my place, he plays my Cherry Burst 1958 R8 copy. I play more of a Custom Shop Honey Burst burl thing, with a neck and belly carve like an LP Modern. There's a Red LP Custom in the rack too, when I want to go "twinsies" for showmanship. I'll play the Red Wine LP while my lead guitarist plays a Red Wine 335. (I'll say it right here. That Chibson Red Wine Es-335 I bought is 125% ES-335. It sounds so great, even real Gibson ES-335 owners wish it was theirs. I know, one guy offered to buy it for $750 [I paid $260], and I refused). All told, I spent maybe $1200 for an entire rack of gorgeous Gibson copies. Less than what I paid for my White Epiphone IBG 355 ($1299). Every purchase was wonderful except for: of the 5 guitars I kept, I bought around 10, and sent 5 back. 1 out of every 2 is "keeper worthy". Also, ALL the pots needed to be waxed. Even in this video, the scratchy, echo-ey sound Troy is getting is because the pots aren't waxed. I watched a few YT videos, bought $15 in supplies, and waxed all my pots. Problem solved – and to save over $2000 a guitar or more – it was worth it. (Actually, new pups is $200-$300, so that's what I really saved by waxing my own pots. But I like comparing apples to oranges). Plus, I love knowing how to do luthier stuff, so it was fun.
Chibsons aren't for everyone. They have no resale value unless you are planning to sell them to a moron. The ones I have are beautiful, sound beautiful, play beautifully, and to the untrained eye and ear, sound like $3000-$5000 guitars. If you are a collector or traditionalist, just mentioning I have Chibsons generally triggers you. So I don't mention it. I upgrade knobs and tuners on every guitar I get, plus put on Elixer 10-46s or NYXL 10-46S, and they are indistinguishable from Gibsons. For playing out as a rock / jazz band in today's market where every penny counts, they are truly perfect.
Not available on Temu
Finally! A Chibson reviewer that can actually PLAY guitar ????????????????
Can you help me. In Temu the pictures do not show the headstock. Is that because it says Gibson! I want it to say Gibson.
Thanks Troy honestly the still can be remade in the U.S.A. They import so much wood, prime materials and electronics nowadays that even real ones ain't 100% American-made… well done! Tired of overpaying shit.
I bought a China Paul Xavier 300 dollars and it plays and sounds great
I got one just like it 125 it's real
Funny how Temu does NOT accept counterfeit money for their counterfeit instruments.
Replace the machine heads, mill and dress and polish the frets! Replace the nut oil the fretboard! Put your favorite pickups in! Replace all the switches pots and the wires! Get a Gibson bridge and tailpiece! And now you have a close facsimile of a real Gibson! Still on a budget far less cost of a real Gibson! Just because it says Gibson it does not mean true quality! Gibson is not the quality control it use to be! I have three Les Pauls and have had too many in my life to recall! I still love them, but can't afford the ones I truly want! My nephew asked me about Chibson guitars and I said go for it! He knows how to set up guitars and as long as people know what they are getting it's cool! A sidebar US customs just confiscated thousands of them from being circulated in the US! They even have a Trump Les Paul kinda goofy!!!!!!!!! Hope this helps and I wasn't too condescending! Play everyday and kick some A_ _ !!!!!!!!!!!!! Best to all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!I'm out of here!
If it is possible could you please send the link on where you bought your chibson. Watching your review made me think on buying one. Thank you in advance.
Yes, you are harming Les Paul. Anyone can manipulate words in any direction.
I had bought one after I sold my real LP's and ended using it for several years as my main gigging guitar in our bar/wedding cover band. Bought another recently for my Nephew to learn on.
P.S. I had Troy's lesson books back in the 80s!
Can u provide a link to the buyer you got it from ? There are a few different temu sellers I'm looking to buy my first electric guitar a decent chibson sounds good to me ????
There's no justification for buying counterfeit products.
Stop apologies and assuming buyers know what they are doing….
It's got frets over the binding which is way better than the stupid real Les Paul where the strings get caught between the fret end and the nibs. What a stupid ass design.
Use it for kindle.
Stop supporting the friggin Chicoms.
It's the reselling of the guitar that is the issue. Someone will fall for it and they aren't idiots as you say. Promoting this crap makes you part of the problem.
Took half a video to open the box
Tried to find it o Temu
There is nothing there like that
Can you send a link?
Only a Chibson is good enough.
Hi, can anyone provide a link to this chibson page please. I tried to find it on the UK Temu site but nothing there at all. Thanks.
