  • That is exactly what my version of Cross Town Traffick needs- more ring modulators. LOL- Just a joke, what I do need though is just a basic rig- sort of. I've played guitar for 40+ years and recently started bass- loving it. But I'm using the preamps in my HX One, I have a cab sim box that's a DI, power amp simulator, and cab box, and eq- and it has some bass cabs and power amps setup in it. So, I figured I would run my preamp into that- but tbh, when I do- it's super-hot, I have to turn the output gain way down on the cab box or it's clipping my channel on the board heavily. It actually sounds better to just run it with just the cab box and a compressor in front of it. I run the Ampeg opto comp. in the HX 1 into the cab box- which like I said does power amp sim, EQ, and a cab sim or IR whichever you want. It sounds pretty good, I can run a preamp in front of it, but it's really hot, you have to turn down the output gain on the power amp sim, and you don't hear much of the color of the preamp really because the power amp and cab sims are really coloring the tone, they're last in the chain and have more effect over the end product. That said, I can turn off the power amp and cab sim- leave the EQ on, and then it's just a DI with an EQ on it- I hadn't thought about that. I bet the preamps would sound better running them that way- I need to go try it. Update- nope, sounded like crap. I don't know enough about bass to know what I'm doing wrong, but I strongly suspicion it's me again- in the past that's been a safe assumption.

  • i think zero fret is a must on a modern 5
no nut filing when changing string gauge's or moving from high C to low D tuning

  • Janek has the bass, the pedal board, the chops, the musicality, the hoodie… but all I care about is that strap.

I really like that he views his sound as "vocabulary" and that simple concepts can be built up to create incredible sounds.

  • All that to make a bass sound like not a bass, wouldn’t it be easier to just play a keyboard …

  • cool cool!!!! I like my bit crusher after the ring modulator, and both together after an up-pitch shifter or harmonizer is heaven ????????

  • Source Audio are my main digital pedals, everything else is analog. I LOVE their Collider, C4, and Spectrum.

  • The bit when he explains why he holds his bass like that on his laps should be included in any 101 bass playing lecture. It makes perfect sense!

  • this dude suuuuuuucks. no amount of jazz proto-fusion-r&b-soul-jamerson-Jaco worship make can make this coherent.

Solely music for folks who like talking over each other.

  • Always lovely to see Janke, no matter if it’s on SBL or his channel. Love his RKM basses and the first time he showed us the Del Verb I was in love with that tone!!

  • Janek is the mad professor who you can steal all his fancy stuff and he kicks you a** with locked in down to earth grooves for dayyys! Love him and the co-lab with SBL. Plus… Janek Gwizdala has his own learning program which covers grounds that approach BASS from another POV. Guess who´s benfiting from it – the community 😉

  • Hello ‎ My name is Yohannes and I am from Ethiopia ????????and I always follow you; I learned a lot from the program but I don't have a bass guitar. It is difficult to buy a bass in Ethiopia. It costs 60,000 ETB. I am a student and I can't buy one. So please help me practice the bass and become a musician. I need this give away! ????

  • Hi Scott…any chance of interviewing Percy Jones (from Llandrindod Wells), formerly of Brand X and Tunnels? His fretless bass has an incredible tone and his attack is unique.

  • I have told Ian beofre. I have Noble #1 Jack and I used to play on the same worship team at our church. Definitely the best piece of equipment I own on my pedalboard.

  • Once again another great video/interview by Scott and the SBL Team.

To no one's fault but my own, I had no business watching that video. I thought I knew a little bit about pedals and effects, but that made me feel like I was in Latin class. I clearly have a lot to learn LOL!!! ????

  • I can relate on the effects, i tend to build boards for specific projects or types of projects.. the one thing I do is keep them to a size limit… 28”w x 24”d this keeps things in something that fits on most stages and rooms.. I currently have 3 of them.. all pretty different.. one has 4 moogerfoogers … one has 3 envelope filters in parrellel loops… and one is setup to split the signal into a low and high signal paths for playing in a duo without a guitarist..

Also I just want to say that the high C fiver is really cool and fun… I think either a SBL or Janek video reminded me that that was a thing about a year and a half ago ago… so I set up a five string stingray in high five C with flats.. it’s a blast! Particularly if you’ve been playing fives most of your life ????
