It would be a cold day in hell before I paid 700$ for a Chinese guitar with bland standard specs – let alone 1300$. They are insane.
He's a perfect example why you never ever take a content creators word for anything and you always research what they are claiming..the Epiphone Pro buckers are highly acclaimed pickups and made the same exact same way with the same materials as the Gibson burst buckers..he also left that part out.. research these people never take them as a fact
This guy doesn’t do gear infomercials unlike 99% of YouTubers
Not a wonder if it feels bad if your action is that high 5:51
I have a Les Paul Special II.
I have the cheaper guitar in this video literally have zero problems with it and got it in 2021
I had a few Epiphones in the past and all were fine. Not the best or greatest guitars but good and solid instruments that felt fine.
I always wanted a Les Paul Custom but the price for a real Goibson is just insane. I ordered a Dunable custom shop guitar a few months ago, pricewise it's in the ballpark of a Gibson les Paul Standard but the Dunable is built by a small team and they buil it to you specs. Waitingtime is around 1 year, but I'm sure it is worth it.
The 1959 actually has Gibson custombuckers
Yeah but MEN are World Famous Liars.
So before you make a video asking people to trust World Famous Liars, you should deal with that problem.
This is a sad state of affairs. In 2019 I bought an Epiphone Les Paul with Gibson pickups about $300 USD. Old Epiphone Headstock. Best Les Paul I’ve ever played. Pricing has gone up dramatically, quality has gone down.
Great video and I subscribed to see what else you are up to. I have had some Gibson Les Paul guitars ranging from the Tribute to the Custom Shop R0. I've also had a few Epiphone models. The Epiphones I bought starting in 2019 were horrible to play and sounded pretty bad. I swore them off and sucked it up and bought Gibsons. That journey started in 2021 and I became disolucioned with them by mid-2024. They really weren't that much better, just way more money. Then, I bought an Epiphone Prophecy and an Epiphone 1959 Les Paul Standard, both made in early 2024. They were both awesome! The Standard had the USA CustomBuckers and I loved them. Yes, past-tense, for various reasons, I sold them too. I've been happy as can be with a couple PRS SE models for over 6 months and won't look back. Its a shame that a storied old company like Epiphone (older than Gibson) has become so inconsistent.
Correction, the fretboards aren’t rosewood their Indian laurel which isn’t a bad word but on a $1300 guitar it is annoying given that PRS puts real rosewood on $500 guitars and the MIM fenders went back to Rosewood. The Schecter solo ii custom would probably blow any epiphone out of the water
Lmao. ???? The look on your face when playing both of them. I don’t wanna. ????????????
I just get a 90’s used Ephi. If you want an Epi…
Buy an FGN instead. Japanese made instruments for about 1000 dollars. Thank me later.
Shame on Epi QC, and cudos for exposing it
Heres something else hilarious that these YouTuber content creators get caught lying about they claim modern Epiphones hold no value or raise in value hmmm well i have one that's value and worth has gone up its a 2019 Epiphone exclusive deluxe limited run Sg Pro what makes this epiphone sg unique it was crafted using the exact dimensions and techniques of the Gibson 1961 Kalamazoo SGS..its hard to find in honey burst color i found one on Reverb back in 2022 paid $650 for it worth every cent ive seen this model sell as high as $700 on the used market so this is why you always check what model Epiphones you have..not all epiphones are treated the same way..
Specs Posted all Over here about epiphones staring you in your faces and your still lying through your teeth thats a mental illness and called a pathological liar friggin pathetic
The epiphone pro buckers are highly acclaimed pickups and made the same exact same way with same materials and techniques as the Gibson burst buckers..and now this guy is removing comments because he got caught removing comments doesn't change anything you're already caught little fella
I got myself an Epiphone Slash and I love it. I just can't justify spending $2K+ when I have no intention of being a working musician
I tried a brand new epiphone flying v recently and was shocked at how nice it was. However, I tried exactly the same model in another store, and it was awful. Sharp frets, badly cut nut and horrible marks on the fingerboard. I think they can make a good guitar, but its incredibly inconsistent.
I got the Epiphone Limited Edition 1959 Les Paul Standard in 2021 and it's AWESOME in every category. They cost $850 at the time and it plays better than most of my guitars, it's very close to my American Fender Strat in quality (I forget the model but it's the expensive one with the noise canceling pickups). It's very sad to see how far the Epiphone QC has fallen, especially with such a sharp price increase over those few years. It's possible that you got unlucky while I got the best of the best with the Sweetwater setup, but even then it's unacceptable that they shipped yours like that.
From my findings the top tier Epiphone stuff usually doesn’t miss. I’ve owned the first 1959 Les Paul and now own the latest version with the proper headstock and it’s super resonant, great setup, the pickups are arguably my favorite humbuckers that I’ve ever tried, and it compares favorably to some of the Gibson’s I’ve tried.
I've got 3x Harley Benton single cut LP style guitars and they are all high quality and sound great. I have the custom gotoh, custom 3 and also the sc550 deluxe. Also have a Vintage V100. Build quality excellent in all those guitars.
Thanks for telling the truth! By the way, you get Gibsons for 3000$ where the high e-string gets stuck behind the fret ends…You pay just for the name, not for quality!
Strange that your opion on the '59 conflicts with literally everyone else on the internet. You start out by saying thay are essentially the same guitar then go on to point out a few of the many differences. You seem to be not well-versed on Les Pauls in general. You may want to educate yourself a bit more before making such an uninformed opinion. You go on to shill a Heritage saying it's great and so much better, and then a McCarty but you do not back that up with any evidence, just that we should take your uninformed opinion. You are the part of the problem with guitar channels. Read the comments to find out just how way off you are.
I have somewhere around 25 guitars not a collector I play them daily and have never sold one over 40 years, all vintage all fender and Gibson, except a USA hammer and 3 charvel,s never been interested in cheap guitars,if you love something it’s worth doing right fender invented Strats why would I want a copy same goes for my Gibson they just play and feel right I don’t want a Toyota with a Ferrari badge glued on it.
Wtf are you on about, dude? I have a 50s Standard Les Paul from Epiphone and for 600€ that thing is incredible!
To anyone interested in less uninformed takes, watch the video from Rhett Shull on Les Pauls that also includes the inexpensive Epiphone.
can u review the cheap slash guitar
This so wrong. Someone should be ashamed of themselves.
I love how YouTube recommended me this as soon as I buy a Epiphone standard ????
I just picked up the 50s standard. I gave the guitar a good going over. It's totally clean! No issues. Fretwork binding all good! It sounds fantastic as well. What's not to like.
The fact that Gibson got rid of the classic and in its price range gave us THAT Epiphone makes me sad
I have a 1978 Yamaha SG1000. It is better than most of the Les Pauls I have played. I could probably find a Gibson Les Paul that is better, but it would probably cost me a lot of money, more than I can justify spending, as these things are very expensive now. 1300 quid for an Epiphone is mad. Especially when it's a bit poor. They look nice, though, but more like £399 nice.

Epiphone rock
Feel identically bad ???? love it
Meanwhile at Fender: every single guitar in their range, from the lowest end Squier to the highest end Custom Shop Fender, has the Fender headstock designs.
04:09 Rosewood? No. Indian Laurel? Yes.
Shrinkflation has caused diminished quality for higher prices. It’s not just guitars. Manufacturers are shooting themselves in the foot.
Appreciate the candor. So many people play it wishy washy which for someone like me who wants the straight talk is really annoying, even disrespectful.
Keep up the good fight led by candor and honesty.
Nobody on YouTube seems to like these new epiphones…
Yeah, go with a PRS SE. They’re knocking it out of the park!
I completely disagree with you. I'm not a fan of any guitar brand or specific model, but I have reasons to discredit every attack you make on the new Epiphone Inspired by Gibson Custom Shop.
In 2008, I bought my first Epiphone Les Paul Standard, which at the time cost what it now costs $300 in my country. It played like crap, had a very high action, and was garbage. So, I turned to PRS for their SE line and found the quality far superior to Epiphones.
In 2023, I bought my first Epiphone in almost 15 years, and it was the Epiphone Les Paul 1959 Outfit.
I was completely impressed with the finish, sound, and feel of that guitar; it completely changed my perspective on the 2008 Epis.
Last year, I sold it because I'm a Tool fan and don't have $32,000 to buy the Adam Jones Signature (1979 Custom), so I bought the 1979 Epiphone Les Paul Inspired by Gibson Custom Shop and am currently fascinated with my guitar.
It's simply a step above the goodness of the 1959 I sold.
I've worked in music stores, played high-end Gibson and Music Man guitars, and honestly, I don't feel like the new Epi IGCs are bad or trashy instruments.
You simply can't expect USA quality from a guitar made in China.
Of course, there are differences, but calling the new Epiphone IGCs trash seems very, very inconsistent to me.
