  • Hey SG you are getting ten dollars Canadian for the infotainment you have provided me. Not right now but soon.

  • I kind of want a mustang guitar, I really like the look and lowkey want something with shortscale to make some songs with stretches easier.

The squire classic vibe competition might be calling my name.

Should probably go to my local guitar shop and actually see how it feels or if it’s too small. I wonder if it’s to small to be comfortable for someone with average size fingers.

  • Unpopular opinion: The switch placement for the Mustang's pickup configuration is one of the WORST designs in Fender's history

  • Besides it is THE poster guitar of Cobain and therefore all Grunge rock (he didn't even accept the title,) though he did use in fact several other guitars, especially other fenders like telecasters and strats.

  • One thing I hate about certain guitars – including the Mustang – isn't with the guitar itself, but with the musician associated with them: because Kurt Cobain used one for Teen Spirit as well as other tracks while performing live, and given how popular Nirvana became, the going price for Mustangs has inflated beyond reason. Which sucks because they are beautiful and a different kind of beast in the right hands, and I'd more than love a vintage one if I'm able to find one for cheap enough near me.

Of course, it's not just limited to Kurt – there are plenty of other names behind other models of guitars made by Fender (and pretty much all other brand names) with inflated price tags due to the user associated with it. Unless you're a collector with the money, it's paradise. That being said, I did just sell my KC signature Mustang and do miss playing with the phase switching and hearing the sound of the pickups within it. I'd rather go with a cheaper alternative and customise it to my liking, which is another viable solution to getting a decent sounding guitar. But hey, I love the colour of the Mustang you got <3 they make guitar playing feel very fun and special

  • My main guitar has been a Squier Paranormal Cyclone in shell pink for the last two years. It's a 3 single coil mustang body with a 24.75" scale and except for an PRS SE Paul's Guitar it's the only thing i really play anymore. The shorter scale gives it a Stevie Ray down tuned thing and since i dropped a low output hotrail in the bridge spot it does a great PAF LP or Tele impression. And since each pickup can be toggled individually I get every pickup combination you can want!

  • My sunburst Mustang Special (Pawnshop Series) is my sofa guitar. It's so compact and easy to play but it doesn't do the phase switching or Trem bar.
Instead the pickup switches split a pair of humbuckers so that you can switch between forward coil, both coils or rear coil of each pickup., separate 3way switch selects neck, both or bridge pickups…. so, not a trad mustang at all, but still a really versatile instrument; like a cross between a Mustang and Gibson SG.!

  • omg, fuck fruciante, that guy is the most overrated guitar plyer in the universe, across multiple dimensions

  • How did you like the Mustangs Fender sent you compared to the original? I was hoping you were going to do a comparison. I was thinking about purchasing the Fender Player II Mustang with a 9 1/2" radius neck and a 24" scale. Last year I purchased the Fender Nashville Telecaster with a 12" radius neck and a 25 1/2" scale and compared to my 65 Mustang neck it is roomy but the neck seems so long.

  • I still have my 65 Fender Mustang my parents gave me on 12/16/1965. Now that I am retired I had it restrung and reintroduced myself to it. 22 1/2 neck seems small today, but is still fun to play sitting down and love the thin body and weight. It is daphne blue and tremolo patient pending. My dad paid it out over 90 days. God bless you dad, you always made sure I had everything.

  • The tremolo system on the Mustang is so cool. Just the look of it. My favorite part of the guitar. The whole guitar just looks so cool.

  • videos that are like “buy this thing because it’s so affordable!” are so funny because if theyre successful and the thing becomes high demand, they become more expensive and the video becomes no longer true

  • I love my 67 mustang. It’s not pre cbs. But man those 60’s mustangs really rock. I poopoo’d mustangs till I got a vintage one now I reach for it over my full scale stats or teles. Not vintage mind you but a couple custom shop American made strats and teles don’t have anywhere near mojo and the delight that the shorter scale offered. I scoffed at them at first as beginners guitars. But I’m now hooked. And looking for a 66 67 mustang bass

  • a 60 year old Fender guitar that currently goes for 2-4 thousand dollars is a lot of things, but (especially after Kurt Cobain) it is in no way a "secret". Can't YouTubers just drop these dumb clickbait hooks?

  • Back in the late 60's ,My father was looking for a Guitar Player for our Gospel Group.

He found a young boy whose Father claimed he could play.

We got to his house and the Kid had a Cherry red Fender Mustang. (Brand New)

I was so jealous standing there with my Western Auto Prestige/Harmony/cheapass guitar My Father had gotten for me to learn on.

But when it came time to show us what he could do. The Kid couldn't play at all. He was terrible.

I could at least play two good chords. So after that I didn't feel so bad . But even today, I love to have one of those Mustangs.

That might be my next Guitar.

  • while I don't have a 60's mustang, I have a 2019 Vintera Mustang, and it's been my main since that year. I play a lot of shoegaze. If you set up the trem just right, it can hit Jazzmaster levels of comfort with the trem. Stays in tune like a champ. I also have a 1998 Cyclone HS, which is like a Mustang and Strat meshed together.

  • I have smaller hands as well and I've always loved the way the shorter scale Fenders played and felt. My first real electric guitar was a 67 Jaguar that I bought in 76 for $100 from a pawnshop owner that thought the neck was warped. I got stupid though about 3 years later and sold the guitar because I thought I wanted to quit music all together. Now I kick myself every time I see what they're worth now.
