You just get it! Thanks for the incredible review, you showcased this rig perfectly!
Does the amp also get credit for making your hair look so good or
Playing bass with an amp just feels… Right for me
Great Review!
I have been looking for a new amp combo and its just a bit too spicy for my pocket book. I think Ill just replace the Fender 500 that crapped out after a decade of use.
It’s BASS-ically perfect
<amual says Bump is a 2db boost at 50Hz
Love GK amps. Can’t wait to buy this amp one day..
THe power switch is my nit pick with almost every amp. I always feel like an idiot trying amps in the store because they are all on different spots on the back, at least on combos. I have a markbass and its right on top where intuition tells me it should be.
Where do you think the GK MB series sits in relation to the Legacy? Any reason you went with this instead of the Fusion or MB?
Great review! LOVE my GK rig! My happy place is the Legacy 800 with the GK 2X12 cab. It’s all I ever need.
But I also see a big Ampeg with you on stage ????
Another excellent review and demo.
I'm using the GK Neo 2×12 800 watt @ 4ohm cabinet with a Traynor Small Block 500 amp. I couldn't possibly be happier. I was playing thru a couple of Hartke HD112's. I switched the two Hartke cabs for the one GK cab at rehearsal and everyone agreed… the GK helped my bass sit in the mix better while also being more present.
The Traynor is rather neutral in tone. My bass sounds just like my bass. With the Hartke cabs I felt my tone was too sterile and lifeless. Especially when I started to crank the volume. This GK cab adds magic. The lows are deeper with more punch and articulation. The mids practically sing on their own and the highs feel more under control. And it is beastly loud.
You do great videos! Always.
This would be my choice as well if I'd be willing to spend the money! As I already commented on one of your recent videos, I'm really happy with the budget version of this: the GK MB210, first generation. This one even has the power button in the right spot. But it has another annoyance: once you insert an XLR cable into the D.I. out, you can only get it out if you have a pick. So if you're only playing with your fingers and don't have a guitar player in your band, the first generation of MB combos is not for you ????
What made you decide to go with the 112 with extension cab instead of the 212 combo?
GK has always been my tone, and I’ve been thinking about retiring my 800RB for gigging. I had some of the MB combos a few years back, but always had issues with 1) the cab seemed to always shake itself all over the stage and 2) there was a bit of a rattle from the head unit being secured into the cabinet. This was a frequent enough issue back in the day on TalkBass and I ended up trading for a dedicated head and cab. Have you noticed these issues?
I use a GK Legacy 800 Head with a Schroeder 2×10 as my primary and the MB 210 as a backup
Both are incredibly versatile depending on the situation
I wish you would have done the Demo with a J or a P bass. With your oddball ( I know you like it) bass I have no reference.
How does the Fender Rumble 500 compares against it? This might be better, but the price difference is also quite big it seems
Aargh, you make me want to spend more money ????
No one talking about the “tuney says” bit at 7:25? ????
have been using the Fusion version of exactly this stack for a couple years now. If I gotta take an amp (boooo hiss) this is perfection
My amp has not left my house since 2017! Everything I've done over the past eight years has been mostly in-ears, and a few that had a decent house backline amp. If that were to suddenly change, I think I would get rid of my current rig and get that GK combo and extension cab. I have always loved the tone I got playing thru GK amps. One place in particular I used to play at had a GK 2×10 combo with what I think was a 400RB head in it, that amp sounded crazy good with my SR5!
How would you compare the legacy amp to the RBii?
????I have the GK Legacy 212 combo and I have the GK NEO IV 2×12 extended cab as well. NOTE. You don't need the extended cab to get the full 800 watts! This is the clearest amp I've had and when you turn it up it never sounds like it's straining (like some other amps do), it always sounds amazing and clear. HIGHLY recommend! Thanks for the video!
I have and still gig with GK 1001RB through a GK 2×12. Been a workhorse since 2000, no problems.
