The Best Guitar Pedal EVER

The Electroharmonix Freeze (or deep freeze in this case) has been the most game changing guitar effect I have ever bought. It literally has changed the way that I can play and approach the instrument and I wanted to talk a little bit about it because it is INCREDIBLE! • I got a Superego a while back thinking it would do this but THIS pedal is actually what I was looking for. Cheers!

  • I used to have the Freeze with 2 mods – arcade switch + expression pedal jack. That way I could use it on it's own or with an exp pedal if it's in the middle of a bigger board. The arcade button mod is kind of a must to keep it quiet. I sold it because it's a one-trick pony. But I miss it sometimes! I might have to pick up the smaller one here or check out competing pedals out there.

  • Awesome vid, thank you. Side note: dying to know what poster that is on the wall (my OCD won't let it go!) Sub'd. ????

  • Great demo. I bought an Electro-harmonix freeze pedal about ten years ago but did not like the tiny clicking on or off foot switch. It needs a piano type of foot pedal that does not latch so you just leave your foot on the pedal just like playing a piano for the length of sustain you need. I think there is one made by Game changer audio called sustain effect pedal.

  • I watch a lot of guitar content and this video shows you don't need that hollowbody guitar. I love my Tele!

  • Anybody here tried the TC Electronics Infinite Sample Sustainer? How does it compare to the EHX Freeze?

  • Even though I only owned this pedal for a short time. It truly sparked an invaluable curiousity that has led me to adding a Roland S-1 mini tweak synth, a keyboard, an iPad with the minimoog app and the drum sequencer.

  • Matt love your dedication to the guitar and absolutely see the value of this bit of kit for practice and experiments in scales and theory…
beyond that, for me, the rhythmic limitations make this feel less of a deep freeze, and more of a deep cheese.

  • I like the guitar part of the song, but the lyrics are frankly stupid: it's just talking about a pedal, and it doesn't even rhyme.

  • They need to Add midi CC. There are Too many neat features to be locked in single use mode. Love my original freeze

  • The upside of working over chords using a looper is the decay allows you to have a sense of rhythm so you can hold a pedal down to capture the loop at a four or eight bar length, then everything you’ll appear as a descends it’ll pop back up in volume on the one. The upside of working over cords using the Deep Freeze is you don’t have the decay. You step on the pedal and it preserves that exact tone at that exact volume.

  • $193!!! Has this pedal always been so overpriced? Cool pedal, but no explanation for that price. Pico Pog’s price I get because is a legendary algorithm and unique.

But “utility” pedals should never be above $120.

  • Subbed. Pretty jazz instead of assy buttrock. Whats more, i knew something like this must exist-i just didnt know itd be referred to as "freeze"pedal…. now imagine holding and freezing a big note during a guitar part in a song, and gradually turning the volume down while you vocally harmonize into the note you were freezing… call it the freezeyfadeawayspecial

  • Thank you so much for this! This is my new dream pedal! Love the EH quality of construction too.

  • Great playing. It doesn't sound like chords ringing though imo, its very artificial, but maybe you like that about it? I think it would work better using a good spring reverb.
