Misinformed on the Page and Blackmore studio amps.
"He relied on Marshalls to produce the loud and powerful guitar tones live". Absolutely false. He used Laney 100w tube amps from the beginning and they were very powerfull. He didn't use Marshall until the 80s and it wasn't because they were more powerfull.
I'm a little bit surprised that he got his first signature Amp in the 90's, like wasn't signature gear a thing till then? I feel like every f***ing guy who played at Glastonbury or some shit once has his own signature amp or guitar or something so how did it take Iommi more than 20 years of playing with the most influential metal band and all round probably one of the most influential bands of all time to get a signature amp? ????
Marshalls are great but Laney, Orange and Mesa Boogie make some nice ones as well.
I mean even early on, he used Laneys live if he could get them. Occasionally he used Marshalls but this was more often when it was a festival with backlined equipment.
20 years for that by to get a signature and nowadays kids play a riff on their guitar on YouTube and gets a signature ????
tony iommi used laneys onstage until heaven and hell
Computers and pedals nowadays recreate your wildest dreams! Facts
I love my Laney VC 30
My 95’ Laney VC-50 is the favorite amp I’ve owned. The cleans are extremely clean, the dirty get dirty, and then dirtier, and even dirtier. I rarely go super dirty on it, but the headroom makes it a superb platform for front-in effects (even though it has an FX loop. )
Ozz in that last picture lol!!
I had a laney and played through Marshall for me there was no Difference they still Sounded Similar to Me
Marshall amps are just awful. I never liked using them.
Lame Player and on a Sidenote…..Fuck off Satanists.good that they slowly all rot away ????
He also had a modified Dallas Rangemaster Treble Booster as a fuzz/boost. Then P90 pickups and his guitar was tuned down to C or C#. Something crazy like that. Some guy modified his Treble Booster to make it sound better, and used that unit all the way to the 1980’s. I’d love to know what that guy did to the treble booster. Brian May used one as well.
Birmingham. Pronounced Birmingum.
I thought that he mainly used orange champs
LOVE Tony!! The Laney stuff tho? Too screachy/noisey/outta control for me… I dig the EVH 5150 III, total beast, and I don't have to use a noise gate.
Laney are aweome the 30watt Black Country head sounds amazing
I hate when this parasite does this. When someone passes, Raxxo wants to say how they were friends. Josh hated this POS like the rest of us.
Tony used Orange amps in the early days too.
Gezer Butler in this video.
Could youtube stop with A.I. enhancement of videos and consequent adultering?
Ive still got the GH100TI and matching cab, serviced and signed by Tony's tec Mike Clement RIP.Its bloody loud????
Tony said that the best thing about Laney amps is that they are free.
It’s not “eye oh mee” ????
I enjoy octal Valco Supremes…but nobody knows me.
Marshall is over rated and way way over priced anyway
I love Tony iommi.
80s iommi was like a villain,truely
With or with out the stache?
Tony got so fuckin cool looking..like the God Father of Metal ????
So that's why those early albums sound so crappy.
"He relied on Marshalls to produce the loud and powerful guitar tones live". Yeah I'm sure the Laney 100w supergroups just weren't loud enough lmao. He switched to marshalls in the 80s after his tech threw out his modded rangemaster.
The Laney AOR was called the Marshall killer. I had one and it wasn’t better than my Marshall. I’m not into 6v6 tubes though. Later I got a GH100 head, which uses el34’s, for so cheap I just couldn’t pass it up. It was ok until, on a whim, I switched the tubes to a set of jj’s. That thing is a monster now. I still don’t like it more than my old traynors but it’s a great amp.
Lying on the internet?
Blackmore and Page didn't use Marshall exclusively, especially in the studio. Cheers.
For a while he actually also used orange amps with his sg. Not for very long though
I have 2 Line 6 Spider HD100 built by Bogner. You won't EVER need a pedal, EVERY effect in built-in. Absolutely amazing amp, I've played it through every type of 4×12 out there. I prefer my 1968 Marshall TV 4×12 with the old original Greenbacks bc of Eddie Van Halen. Everybody who has played through it has wanted one. It comes with 300+ built-in tones, including EVH, Zakk, Blackmore, Angus, etc. There is zero tones you can't get. Guitar Center has new ones for $800. I bought my 2nd one for $350 on Reverb.
