Fender “The Bends” Compressor Pedal Review

This is my review of the new Fender Compressor pedal called the Bends. Overall it does what it’s supposed to do.

  • I'll try it out these evening but on these video it seems to put extra noise to the sound… I use different compressor for years (DBX, Effectrode, DSM, Mad Professor)

  • Just tried this on a 87 ibanez rd707 bass. With a darkglass alpha omega ultra on a tc bq500. Ashdown 410h and a tc k212 on bottom. I know. Its a list of nerd stuff. But it was ridicilous huge sound. Not one tone was missing. And i added a boss 3d distortion with dunlop wah in it on a solo. It was burton heaven❤. This is as good as it get for bass compression????

  • I have the electric guitar, and regular speaker, where there isn’t coming out the electric guitar sound. Will this compressor sustainer make a difference ? (Thank you).

  • Recovery is release, how long it holds and keeps compressing the signal before it returns to normal volume

  • Hopefully someone will answer. This and Xotic Sp Comp, which one should I get?

  • Can you help me a bit please? Is recovery the attack? If it is so, why is it called recovery? Can I not adjust sustain? Thanx!

  • Would you recommend this over the Donner Ultimate Comp that you also did a review on? Be good to hear your feedback on this especially as the Donner is much cheaper.

  • I was given one of these pedals, partly because two of the blue LEDs don't light. All the controls seem to do something to the sound and the jewel light sometimes goes red, but it doesn't sound like it is compressing to me. I think it has more problems than just dead LEDs 🙁 Oh well back to the Keeley.

  • I was suspicious that a guitar company knew anything about FX pedals. But looks like Fender nailed it right.

  • Great reviews as ever Shane, however, and I don't wish to be picky, but you seem to be confusing release (recovery), with attack (drive). You can see the jewel light change colour as the compression is released. This feature I think is quite useful for tired (or in my case, old and gig-worn) ears, when setting it up.
You said (Santa Ana review), that there was one pedal in this series you wouldn't be reviewing, as you didn't like it. I'm (possibly not the only one) curious to know which pedal, and what you didn't like about it?

  • Nice pedal…something I thought was pretty cool is how the light changes color when you play. Yeah I get distracted by shiny objects haha! ????????????
