To be fair, Mark Lettieri makes any guitar sound like the best guitar you've ever heard.
Should probably put some EMGs in it.
$10,995 for the ES-175 in case anyone wants to know.
Oh my goodness! What year was that LP custom. I am chasing that exact sound. What amp was that the JMP 100? That sounded so good!!!
Jackson Mississipi is about halfway…btw
10:13 ohhh, Rebel Yell.
It sounds so good.
4:50
1, no
2, no
3rd time is the charm
It's hard to decide what is more special: Mark's out of this world playing, or that 175. Oh man, oh man. On a different note, I got burnt big time at this shop, would never buy from them again, nor trust any representation they make that a vintage instrument is 'all original'. Buyer beware.
what is the metres song that rhett plays? at 2:30
I played a 1954 es 295 like that in goldtop, just uncredible , the p90s sound really sharp.
That 175 sounds like a fat telecaster
I have a 1959 ES-175-D with the original '59 PAF humbuckers which were authenticated by Gibson about 20 years ago. (pictured in my avatar) I am the second owner and got it in 1963. The finish on the guitar is immaculate; no cracking, checking or hazing and after all these years, I haven't had to even adjust the truss rod. All parts are original except for the plastic on the tuners which disintegrated over the years and had to be replaced. I saved the plastic pieces and machine heads and may send them to Dan Erlewine to have them reproduced. ( I saw him do that in one of his videos) This one is my holy grail and will go to the grave with me.
12:00 lol
Man that ES 175 is cherry and sounds heavenly.
i went to this store after seeing dead and company! i got to play the guitar and the leslie. both were fantastic. and the staff was incredibly kind. excellent store!
Mark LETTIERI is fabulous. No matter the instrument, Mark will make them sing. He is really something. With his band or Snarky Puppy really one of the most talented guitar players today. Thanks for bringing him to the channel≥ a real treat. You truly nailed Iommy tone with that beast of a Custom. fuckin' awsome video thumbs up 100% Rhett, well done!
Love that gibson!
I have that exact same Fender Musicmaster, 1977 white with black pick guard. Great video!
175 has always been at the top of the list , Gretsch Falcons and Country Gentleman , hummingbirds , and different Les Paul's , and all-time favorite is 335.
I have a '56 ES 175 my father purchased new, and will pass it to my son, great guitar.
I have a 1962 original 175t with a 1964 p90..and I also have the original lipstick pickup and pick guard. And the case is in pristine condition.. Bought at auction and they didn't have any idea what they had..Great tone
That’s an amazing top on that thing. I’m actually going up to LA in the next couple of weeks and will be making the pilgrimage to Norm’s. Looking for reverb and delay pedals and hoping they can help me out.
Gibson doesn't even make the ES-175 anymore. I bet if they did, they'd be great since they seem to have improved quality-wise and also come with a plekked nut and frets.
Love that zep bit
did you buy it?? if so I would like to see a video where you do that music inro plus make a cool solo or song to introduce it with the production videos or whatever of likethe mountains or seascape or something that would be sick I would really like to see that as I really like how you do it plus your music hits me a special way
Nice playing Rhett.
Hard act to follow.
Sounds Great! ????????
Oh and the other guy’s not bad either. Said the snarky guy about the snarky young pooch.
That was sick Rhett, I smiled from beginning to end. There was almost that moment like all of us after sitting in a shop, thinking I'll eat beans for half year it will be fine. lol. All the best.
Thanks Rhett, great video, Mark could make a 4×4 with fishing line sound amazing, I love listening to people how are truly gifted with any musical instrument and this was truly great.
That Leslie cabinet sounds absolutely incredible. I NEED one.
The Gibson ES-175 looks like it’s been in the case for the last 68 years. Should always stay in neck position.
Looks and sounds like a Chinese guitar to me,
So, how much for that Gibby?
Truly great players have an effortless economy of motion when it comes to fretting the strings and playing riffs. They simply pass their hand over the neck and their fingers just automatically fret the notes and chords. Robben Ford has a similar technique in fretting the strings as Lettieri.
Mark is an incredible guitar player, but damn ! he sounds so cold, chirurgical.
I wholeheartedly agree on your text about and take on Mark Letterie in the intro – he's the hottest pro player of our time for me as well, definitely already some sort of living legend, versed in many styles, incredible fluency and impeccable time, clarity and cleanness of tone I find second to none and a consummate, 100% musical musician through and through! Definitely a "hero" on the instrument for me as well as he impressively demonstrates with his jazzy riffing here on the ES-175. Great video and very cool of you to have taken him prior to the concert! Awesome stuff!
Great hang . The leslie and marshal in that open space , sounded killer through my system .
If ever there was a guitar prime for a budget reissue there it is…..the ES175…. great to see a shop with records for sale….
It’s not the guitar.
Please do not take it personal, you are a nice guy, and you are not Jimi Hendrix or Paco De Lucia or some kind of Pavarotti, or anyone that is worthy of any prestigious hall of fame of any kind.
You area great You tuber with some savvy, and discrete skills….
but you should NOT get guitars of these price tags in your hands ever, not wearing jeans, not wearing a top with a zipper, nor for making any video at all… I can also understand that perhaps the retailer offered it to you so to maybe promote his business and his inventory. but if you was to accept, he or you should at least have something written on paper with signature that you would not be liable for any incident that maybe damage slightly or irreparably the item they give you to video shoot with.
As a matter of fact if you will ever have any friend with an exotic car or exotic guitarlike this, and give you the '''keys'' to take a ride, You should decline that in these circumstances as well.
The same is true for Your friend Mark
Do understand that a guitar like that 30 years from, when it will breach 100 years age now can easily exceed the price tag of 16 20 million if a rare spec and batch.
That guitar is almost 70 year sold.. in precisely 10 years from now it will be certified by all effects an antique, and a price tag easily north of 5 6 million, especially if in that kind of almost mint condition.. like this specimen in the video.
Don't believe Me,, contact anyone at Sotheby's or Christies… see what they say.
this is video number 200 where you discovered the holy grail of tone.
When I have an Oh No moment fortunately it's usually when I pick up one of my own long ignored guitars. The Oh No is that I haven't played it in ages. I'm not loyal to any one guitar, so I guess I am a guitar bigamist.
Rumor has it every time Rhett wants to film in a guitar store, he has to duct tape his wallet to his ceiling so he doesn’t get the urge to spend all of his money. ????
Look-Ka Py Py! Get funky wit’ it, Rhett!
Hope yer strapped
Two of my favorite guitarists. Enjoyed this!
Guitar tone is definitely a subjective thing, because I'm just not hearing what's so great about that Gibson.
Having a major brain fart, can someone please tell me what song he’s playing at 9:20? Driving me nuts????
OMG best video ever!
