Orangewood Guitars Clementine Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar

Orangewood Guitars has made a splash into the semi-hollow electric guitar market with their new Clementine. An elegant and thoughtfully modernized take on a classic guitar design, the Clementine makes a bid to be the best semi-hollow electric guitar under $1500.

There’s a lot to love about the Clementine, with its beautiful double-cut aesthetic, bound rosewood fretboard, and Seymour Duncan Seth Lover pickups. Add to it some modern upgrades such as tummy cut back contour, locking tuners and a coil-split toggle and you have a comfortable, great sounding and versatile semi-hollow.

  • Nice guitar. I played a Guild Surfliner Deluxe based on the tones you were getting from it

  • Big fan of semi-hollow guitars, and own several. I have a few Orangewood guitars – from their recent Retro acoustic series, and their rubber bridge model, and – due in no small part to your review – their recent baritone model (which I play more often than my PRS baritone). Curious price point for this one. Fantastic playing, as always. Cheers!

  • Nice guitar but I don’t think it will sell at the price they’re asking. Orangewood is mostly associated with budget guitars and I think that stigma will be hard to change. I remember Vox came out with their semi hollows a few years ago, really well made Korean guitars, they originally were asking around what this guitar is going for and they didn’t sell, finally they were blowing them out at around $500.

  • I can see where orangewood was going with this market-wise. I have an Epiphone es-339 and it's a great guitar for less than half the cost. But there's a big gap between that guitar and the Gibsons, and while Epiphone makes $1k+ guitars the value just isn't there. Back to the orangewood, I think it could have been a few hundred cheaper, or maybe had a bigsby for the price. But I'm glad there's more competition in the semi-hollow space.
