  • Prog rock fans are great at cubbyholing bands into precise sub-genres. The lead singer/main composer, Steven Wilson, helped out with the production of an Opeth album, and acquired an appreciation for heavy metal, then came back to PT and created some great tunes considered to be "prog metal". There are a lot of great bands who as kids loved the music of Yes and Genesis, then grew up to become excellent musicians playing their own brand of progessive rock mostly in obscurity when the music listening public had moved on to different styles of music after embracing prog during the '70's. To distinguish these next generation prog bands from the classic ones of the '70's, they've been given the label "neo-progressive". Marillion. Dream Theater. Echolyn. The Flower Kings. Pendragon. And many others. Mostly touring in small venues and each having their own small following of devoted fans, some have been around for decades, but have never received much, if any, radio play.

The PT song you just listened to is out in the high-energy, frantic area of their catalog. I'd suggest a foray into something less raucous next time around, "Blackest Eyes": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCqi63mY1j4

  • Do more PT reactions, I would like you to react to The Pineapple Thief aswell, similar group to PT, with the same great drummer

  • Prog and excellence in production were in Mr. Wilsons DNA from his first encounter with Floyd at about 10yo. If you want some cool Proggy musical meandering (in a good way), I concur with someone else's recommendation for you to react to Anesthetize. Keep up the good work.

  • Oh man you have now gone next level………’Anesthetize’ from the same album live from Tilburg. ‘Arriving somewhere but not here’ and ‘Hatesong’ live from Chicago would be just 3 of their amazing catalogue that I would recommend. Also check out lead singer and composer Steven Wilson’s solo work.

  • Check out an older song BAND MAID REAL EXISTENCE (Official Live Video). This is the song where Saiki took off my shoes and calls Misa over and they both start laughing .

  • For me, they're the best progressive rock band, just ahead of King Crimson. And Steven Wilson is an incredible musician.
