TWOD mastermind details his spiraling stompbox setup.
Before a full evening of The War on Drugs’ jams in support of 2021’s I Don’t Live Here Anymore, PG was invited to Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium. We covered Granduciel’s growing guitar collection, got the skinny on how Jerry Garcia’s monstrous setup played into the bandleader’s theatre rig, and we took in a cockpit view of his stompbox squadron full of tone ticklers, sizzlers, and wigglers. In addition, bassist David Hartley showed off a trio of Ps, an armada of Ampegs, and demo’d a fuzz that has ended his quest for razing tones.

Whatever you’re doing, just please keep doing it.
He sounds like a genuinely nice guy . Pedal nuts but nice.
what guitar does he use in this video?!
This is kinda embarrasing.
The interviewer sucks! But aye this band is great! Their songs are like the awesome songs u hear on a movie…if ya know what i mean..
I’ve never seen so many insecure guitar players in one comment section
Glad he don't play Shoegaze
He sounds like the lead singer of Cake
this conversation has a real "flow" to it
I love to see someone like me continue to try out new pedals all the time. I try to keep my board as small as possible but there is just to many good pedals out there!
This rundown makes my brain hurt. I can also say that I barely hear anything unique this rig brings to the table, other than a journey in….toy collecting. Not my jam I guess.
Think the Fuzz they were thinking of was a Big Muff !
Yeah, this doesn't feel like an SNL sketch at all.
i'm sorry but Adam literally is sounding like an extremely rich hipster dood with far too much gear….i get that they've actually musicalized all these pedals in some way, they all serve something musically, but this guy literally has like 8 flangers and 5 boost pedals, like what the hell hahahah i love WOD though
The great thing about this rig is that he can just pick his stuff and be on his way within a minute or two. And it doesn't require much time on stage for setting up and soundcheck. And lastly, this is not something you could all do easily with a laptop and an interface nowadays.
Amateurs walk all over their guitar cable
Here I sit trying to minimize my rig so that it might fit on a Boss BCB-1000 and a small board for vocals bc I dont want to carry all of that dead weight around and then I see this????????????????
They should do a shred parody on this one
Nasty sound????
G.A.S. intensifies
The interviewer doesn't quite know what to say. He's overwhelmed by PEDAL MADNESS.
????
Tapdancer Grand Cru
His minimalist approach is a refreshing vicissitude from todays excessive pedal boards.
This makes me feel better about my own pedal buying problem, thanks Adam, love your work.
I like their music! I’m not going to knock his setup until I get to hear it live and decide for myself if it makes a difference.
Man, just when I thought I had too many pedals on my board (ten)…
5:30 ~: The right side of the Bun Runner is a Tonebender. Left side is an Astro Mess.
Hes not a natural talker is he??
No one plays a pedal board that big live when they have to set it up themselves! Haha
