Josh Smith’s favorite hand-built Jazz Guitar
Josh Smith is back to go through more of his enormous arsenal of guitars. In this segment Josh shows us his hand built Case Guitar made by Jon Case in London, UK. The guitar is originally modeled after a 1950’s Gibson ES-175 with Ron Ellis P-90 Pickups. Find out why this guitar is so special and one of Josh Smith’s ‘go-to’ Jazz guitars! Shot safely live at Josh Smith’s Flat Five Studio in Los Angeles, CA. ????

Jon Case is an astounding designer and craftsman. I doubt you get much better than this. I have 50 plus top end guitars .. laid hands on an early Case about 20 years ago ….. unbelievable!
How do you get that out of phase volume dependent sound? Is this a mod I can apply to my les paul type guitar with humbuckers, Bare Knuckle Mules?
Amazing video. Keep it up ✊????????????
I wish he'd stop stealing my licks !
Looks quite similar to the guitar played by the late Wayne Bennett.
Thank you for all of your posted videos.
I could listen to this man play all day
Love this series!! Josh has such unique but great sounding guitars
These are awesome!!
These guitars are great!
Exceptional guitar with a huge tonal variety !
Yew! Sounds great.
A fine tool in the hands of a craftsman. Talent is born, but it must be shepherded. Something we’ve somehow forgotten and is leading to our decline. We are now expected to come out fully formed or near enough, that disappointment is all we now can expect. Wow, that got heavy fast. Apologies…..that was a killer guitar.
Is this guitar strung with 13- 52 strings ?
That run from 0:45 shows why Josh is one of my favorite guitarists which I recently discovered
That's NICE!!!
Great guitar, P90 fits very well for jazz stuff. Specially with this kinda tube amps tweed area with little grind when attacking the strings. Grant Green tone style.
Awesome tones and playing!????
That’s a really classy modern take on a classic. Love the look and sound. Judging by Josh’s love for it since day 1, I guess it plays awesome too.
This is what I don’t like about Josh. His weird and sometimes ugly guitars. Why doesn’t he plays the real things beats me. His Tele is not a real one. His Strat is not a real Strat etc.
this is so cool. Man Josh Smith is such a bad ass!
the jazz world thanks u.
there are legions of us out here. jazz is coming back… why? because of the mind numbing musical boredom that permeates every nook and cranny of the radio/internet/tv.
thanks, josh!
real musicians play jazz!
I have one of Jon’s guitars too. Most wonderful instruments I have ever come across. Mine is a bit of a beast Les Paul type guitar ???? (you can hear it on my channel)
Yes, it does sound very 1950s. This guitar is lucky to be owned by Josh, who brings out all the potential of the guitar.
there is so much noise from those pickups that i do not enjoy the music. why not just have a vacuum cleaner running in the background? what it is-garbage noise
Excellent. Seems very versatile.
Wow Josh, thanks. ⚓️
