What are your favorite ways to use an EQ pedal? What are some other "utility" pedals that you love? Comment!
Great demo! I need to use mine for more than a solo boost!
What is the song at 7:20 and where can I learn it?
I tried this but using an EQ to change the frequencies of the GUITAR vs. the AMP sounds really synthetic to me. Why would I want to change the EQ of the guitar? I do this on the amp itself post guitar signal. It adds a weird "sheen" to the tone of the guitar.
Had a BOSS GE-7 for many years. I used to use the classic "V" shape but now I have it mostly near the center. Some slightly above, some slightly below. I ended up knocking the sliders out of place and couldn't remember where I had them so I fiddled with it and got kind of close. My settings are:
100: Set between the first two lines below 0.
200: Set between 0 and the first line below 0.
400: Set at 0.
800: Set a hair or two below 0. (slightly higher than the setting for 200)
1.6: Set slightly below the first line above 0.
3.2: Set between first and second line above 0.
6.4: Set the same as 3.2.
Level: Set all the way down.
These are the most useful tips ever on using an EQ pedal.
Is there a way for making a humbucker sound like a single coil and a single coil sound like a humbucker using an EQ pedal?
I have a weird pipe dream of rehousing two of these into one enclosure but keeping both ins and outs. Buffers at either end of the chain and eq before and after dirt.
nope, your wrong , i got 3 of them cause i did know what to do with them ,just get an m x r 10 band ,the one with 2 outs is cool ,you can run duel mono like that.
I use it as a solo boost after my OD
How should l use it on a mandolin with a fishman pietzo bridge?.
But… why all this? You can't play to save life…
Thanks for the excellent demo. I have a Danelectro 5-band equalizer that works quite well and I believe, as I'm sure you do, that such a pedal is hard to do without once you become accustomed to them.
Great demo. Love that "out of phase" sound. Will give it a try.
Hey thanks for nothing! What a waste of time! And thanks for waving the pedal around like you were in a parade making it impossible to decipher the setting of each slider.
MXR 10 band here.
I have an EQ in my chain that I solely use as a dedicated tone-fixer for when I plug in a humbucker guitar. I just have it boosting the 3.2K and cutting the overall signal volume a bit, but I’ll have to see how your method of also cutting a bit of 400Hz works as well.
I have an original Japanese one. Bought it back in the day when they came out. Still in the box smelling like new! I may start using it after this!
Yes, I have the pedal on my desk in front of me.
How would I get the Filtertron sound with a MXR 10 band EQ?
You're 3rd example is practically identical to mine. It's also a real sweet spot for Electric-12.
Wow you save me some money i want to buy one of this EQ pedals now i don't ???? thanks
Where should you put the equalizer in the pedal chain first or last
I am going to put like 3 EQs in my board, I swear.
The lo-fi sound almost sounds like the new JHS 424 gain stage pedal. Great demo!
Thanks, Adam. Very helpful video. I use several EQs in the chain of my Helix to shape the overall tone. A little bit goes a long way. Thank you!
Thanks for this demo. I'm a bass player; that said, I've purchased a few of the EQ pedals you identify. I will say that most, if not all, had unacceptable hiss if you boosted at all. I found all of them unusable unless you were going to add distortion to hide the hum. I did get a modded GEB-7. I haven't tried any new EQ pedals, maybe they are better sounding, i know then internal circuits have changed dramatically.
What kind of jack doesn’t understand how to use an EQ
Great talk. Great info. Really enjoying your channel
I've often wondered about these pedals. Good info here. Thanks!
