How Good is this Affordable Orangewood Acoustic Guitar? – The Morgan Mahogany Live

This is my full review of the Orangewood Morgan Mahogany Live acoustic-electric guitar. The Orangewood Morgan Mahogany live is an inexpensive guitar that delivers the good thanks to the built-in Fishman pickup and zingy tone of the guitar. Are Orangewood acoustic guitars any good? Let’s find out.

  • I bought this guitar im having issues with the strings buzzing when i use a capo on the first few frets sometimes even without the capo on

  • I mostly play electric but I've had an old yamaha acoustic dreadnaught I take out once in a while. My question is – what is my decision making criteria for cutout vs no cutout? I realize the cutout is to provide better access to high frets, which I seldom do, but I've been told the reason any guitar comes WITHOUT cutouts is to provide better sound.

  • Wow, it sounds so much better "dead dry" as you call it. When you first started playing it with the produced backing track, I almost turned the video off it sounded so awful.

The tone is much better with just the microphone than whatever produced track you were playing it with before. Also preferred the sound with just the mic @5:51.

  • Does the pickup in it have to be plugged in in order for it to work? I'm not seeing the point in a 9v battery if it doesn't run off the battery and give it tone and volume unless it plugged in.

  • Hello Shane. As a left handed guitar player I follow all your videos with interest. I recently purchased a Orangewood Mahogany live and I would like your opinion. The guitar came with a large scratch on top surface, and a noticeable belling bump and the strings were not installed properly. Orangewood will exchange the guitar but states that the belly bump is normal!

  • Loved that you played it live I've considering one as I'm a lefty as well, but wasn't comfortable ordering one without playing or least hearing one not too bad, the only down side is they only offer the lefties in their cheaper version guitars, at least that's all i see, I've written the company twice with the response of showing only the less expensive ones, still on the fence. thanks for the review

  • It sounds like a Martin guitar man… It's amazing that for the (allegedly) low price you can get such a wonderful tone & brightness off of it.

  • Don’t bother if you live outside of North America, they are Not Interested in selling to you… unless you’re a YouTube reviewer. Two years of trying to a guitar shipped to Australia & they haven’t even bothered to reply once. WOFTAM!

  • Don't buy an acoustic guitar that was built in China. Just don't do it. Notice how in their marketing, they're very careful to point out that their guitars are "designed" in L.A., CA. They also say that their guitars are "set up" in L.A. as well. Bottom line: it's a guitar made in China. If you're in the market for a guitar that's made overseas, guitars made in Japan, Korea, Indonesia, or Malaysia seem to fare much better. I bought a Chinese-made guitar (not Orangewood) …once. I will never do it again.

  • Looks fantastic, sounds fantastic, and it doesn't cost much. Like that perfect girl you could never find. Easily the easiest to play acoustic I have owned. My only quibble with Orangewood is that they don't offer any spruce tops in lefty!
