Did they really have all this equipment back in the day i mean, at the recordings studio, i'm sure they did. But when they were making the song at home, did they really do all this digital stuff to it.
You don’t sound anything like J. You sound like a pointy guitar sausage fest. J’s live tone was super bright and in your face, cuz he wanted to be heard. He played a Rat into a Recto with another boost in front to cut the flub from the Rat. I use a TS-9 for that. It’s real simple. You need lessons, not more knobs. Stay in school.
Ah yes, the Randall Century 200. You can still find them in decent shape for the low, low price of $4000

Love the video, but 0.30, J not a shred god. J did shred. La sexorcisto Vol 1 has a ton of shredding. It just didn't happen on Astro Creep. He is a very capable shredder.
I finally understand! To get that huge sound, you need 8 takes!
It was also the guitar of the era; J posted it on his website at one point and it had a bass string replacement, because it was down-tuned.
I catch a lot of heat for playing dean guitars and Randall amps. However, I can’t be wrong for liking white zombie, Metallica , anthrax , crowbar ect, as well as pantera. All bands that use them. The boosted Randall sound is just the shit.
J is my favorite guitarist. He could write riffs like no other. I always wanted to hear more from him

We deserved more While Zombie albums and less Rob Zombie albums.
My honest assessment is you came really close to getting Jays tone. However think he had quite a bit more overdrive and bit of a more wet sound. For lack of a better work. Good work though.
You're dead on Jay was is an incredible guitarist/songwriter. There's so many shredders and it's cool but I'll take Jay's playing and tone anyway over all that shred stuff. AstroCreep 2000 had better guitar tone and production most records of today. Oops I take it back u got a lot closer at about the 10:00 mark.
I always said this too! Jay was an AMAZINGLY creative guitarists. Lots of the things he did weren’t even difficult to do. Like at all. He was really able to stretch what he could get out of certain guitar sounds and utilize them effectively.
