Both are great
They are essentially the same mic. 58 has windscreen which is designed to attenuate plosives while the 57 is designed for instruments and also has a 5k boost answering why it sounds crispier. 🙂
love them both
Tabs for lick?
Do you have any reverb added here? Either on the amp/pedal or from DAW?
I have a 58 and I like to use it when recording my Strat. It seems to give the single coils some extra warmth and weight.
U can t compare on 2 different place. Each V30 sound différent ????
As a vocalist singing in both I confirm that they ???? sound different! I prefer to use sm57 cause for some reason it makes me less tired after long rehearsals ???? Fellow musicians call me “cab” now ????
I would say in order to do this test a little better you have to mic the same speaker. Since both speakers even though they're in the same cabinet probably have a different sound.
57 sounds much better even on phone speakers you can hear ir
They should be on the same speaker, same spot, same distance… everything. Here, they're on different speakers.
g12k-85 speakers in the cab ?
58 for the clean tone 57 for distorted. 57 sounds more aggressive.
no point in a comparison if you are gonna mic up 2 different speakers
The 58 sounds beautiful
It could have been more accurate if they are placed on the same spot of the same speaker.
How the hell it sounds so smooth even with the mic dead center? Post eq? Ora are you using a magic mic pre? ????
Just put the sm58 cover and it blows ur mind
There’s a reason the sm58 isn’t a instrument mic
You scale changing with microphone shifting ????
These are really cheap used i got mine for Rp 100k which is equivalent to around 6 usd
SM57
57 sounds wayyyyy better
Since the Sm58 has a better low end response, I would probably use the SM57 to mic a Guitar Amp and use the SM58 to mic a Bass Amp.
Damn you rock
The first ascending riff wasnt good for a test lol the rest is great. Sm57 has more crunch ofcourse if its off by even an inch it gets rid of the tone. And you could just up the treble for sm58
Sm57 Sounds Crisper
Sm58 Sounds Filtered.
They are the same capsule, same mic. The 58 has a pop filter that makes it more forgiving for vocals. Great microphones.
58 is more for vocals
The sm58 sounds smoother, I have one and it's amazing
SM57 all day, every day
Most likely its the diference between the speakers
57 definitely sounds crisper.
57 sounds better for instruments and 58 was made specifically for vocals
What amp and cab are u using
