  • Don’t buy it! Any amp with a DSP is a total NO-GO.
Here I am with a DSL40CR and a dead reverb DSP card — and surprise: the entire amp stops working because of it. So no, you can’t just turn off the reverb and throw a pedal in the loop.

Marshall doesn’t sell the part, so local techs can’t fix it. Sending it to Marshall would cost more than the amp is worth just in shipping. (Yep, they stick a cheap little DSP card in there, and you get to pay for the repair and the privilege of shipping it.)

So if anyone’s in the market for a 50-lb doorstop / boat anchor / oversized brick, hit me up — I’d love to unload this lemon.

  • Had this amp for several years, by far the best value for Marshall tones. And don't change out the speaker, the V Type is exactly like a V30. Tried MANY other Celestions and they don't match up well.

  • Hello people at Marshall, I'm desperate, so I'm trying this: I have a DSL100hr and a Harley Benton FXL8 pro and I can't connect the two so that I can switch the channels/modes using MIDI. The cable is fine. The MIDI channel could be changed, but I can't find this information anywhere: how do I set the MIDI channel on the amplifier back to 01 (if it was accidentally changed)? And yes, I know I can switch to standby mode and then the loop LED flashes. But what's next? And if the channel is correct, how do the two devices communicate? At the moment I'm trying to do the right routine on the HB, but the amp isn't responding. Please help! And please not the manual, I've read that and it feels completely incomplete and only for experienced users, which I'm not when it comes to MIDI.

  • When i am turning on the amp, should it be switched to stand by, wait and then switch to low or hi ? Or its better to have the button on low or hi when turning on and then switch to stand by ?

  • Hello i ordered one today 😀 Do i have to let it in stand by for a while to warm up? or can i just put it on 40W and ON and play ? 🙂

  • Hey Marshall! You know would be really helpful? Explaining the 2 Master Volumes. They are confusing af and Marshall manual is no help at all. One would assume M1 is Classic gain channel and M2 is the ultra gain right? Nope. Apparently, after searching the internet, (thank you YouTube) they have a memory function. So they are assignable to the different modes and different channels and "remember" the last setting used… i think. So their functionality changes if your not paying attention. I also read the M2 is a boost or something, so not sure how that works either. Not knowing this you'll find they change from green to red and sometime dont do anything if youre just playing about trying to figure them out. Some level of explanation from Marshall would really be nice for those of us who weren't involved with the designing of it. 😉

  • Have you got that bit about the Master Volumes/Footswitich correct? When I use the footswitch, it toggles the channels f(i.e. between Classic Gain and Ultra Gain). I can't, for example stay on Classic Gain and then use the footswitch to toggle the Master Volume controls.

  • My Chanel switching goes out every one in a while. And it constantly looses sound I have to keep turning it off and it makes a pop sound and comes back on. Other than that it sounds ok when it works

  • Why does the dsl fart out on the low string when the gain is set high. Its like the signal distorts in a bad way.

  • Very nice demo. I've had the older DSL40C for 3 years now and just ordered this CR to complement it! I love those DSLs

  • This is easily one of the best Tube amps I have ever owned that performed so well out of the box. The G12 V type hits the sweet spot very well for excellent tonality. Big difference from the 70/80 of the previous model. Which I never owned but played numerous times in the store. Out of the box I have never been as satisfied with an amp. The Fender Bassbreaker comes a close 2nd. Which also has the G12 V Type speaker. Excellent AMP without breaking the bank.

  • I am asking for a video on how to play in headphones without using a loudspeaker in Marshall DSL 5 CR or DSL 1

  • Thank You for sharing your knowledge of the DSL40 ! I’m new to using Marshall. One question, how to record through it?

  • Very nice. My DSL40 is the previous generation. Mine doesn´t have those individual master volume on the right, and the controls for loop and to switch between 40 to 20 are all at the rear panel.
