Nicely done..Many ideas using Am scale….sure helps me a lot.
Yes, this is a great lesson. Thanks, Darrell!
This was amazing! I am 4 years too late but still ????
I am nowhere near intermediate, I have no songs up my sleeve which is a bit embarrassing for me given how long I've been at it, but this made absolute sense to me and just wow, it's like a well of sparks opened up. Than you immensely
NEW TITLE — The only video on Improvisation that you need..
Thanks to your excellent lesson.
It helps me a lot. You mentioned phrasing, meaning for Am pentatonic shape, start with A note and end with A note. Could you tell me what to do when chord changes to G ? Does the same thing apply: ‘start with G note and ends with G note’ ?
Good lesson
Been trying to find impro help
❤
Darrell does a great job of using simplicity to show how to
slowly build up to a solo. Certainly helped me to clearly see how to use a scale and chords to create a solo which can be built upon on step at a time. Great job!
This has been one of the most comprehensive and easy to understand intros to solos! Thank you for demystifying this next stage of my musical journey 🙂
Darrell, what is the source of your dirt sound in this video? Really curious. Thanks.
Awesome video for a beginner like myself. I learnt so much, thank you!!
Thank you so much. I hated practicing the few scales I learned because it sounded boring. After watching this video, I spent a whole hour playing along with the backing track. Very simple but effective tips to start feeling what a solo should be like ????
Always a pleasure to watch your episodes!
Thank you very,very much
Bro you explained it to me so clearly and slowly without ripping it up and not knowing what the hell you just did like a lot of them do. You gave me a better understanding how to improvise. Thanks so much!
I'm from srilanka. Please can you speak slowly ???? Difficulty to understand
THANK YOU. GOODNESS. PURE????
Great lesson. Thanks.
Thx for the lesson
What guitar is that? Beautiful ????
very helpful, thank you darrell
Subbed. Your lessons are so easy to understand!!
Nicely explained
simply phenomenal presentation and explanation. many thanks
Love the channel Darrell. Always interesting and informative. Big thumbs up! Thanks for the great content.
This really fills some gaps. I should’ve seen this one a couple years ago. Thanks.
Great Video and tips. Cheers mate!
Great lesson! Is there a part 2?
Darrell, you're a G.O.A.T. thank you so much for this amazing lesson. <333
This has to be the first time in a long time I felt like I truly progressed in guitar ,if I could go back in time I'd tell my younger self to take the the sacked more seriously
Since I just learnt the aminor pentatonic scale this is the first solo video that has actually made a bunch of sense to me
Great use of the scale…one of the best I’ve seen!????
Tankyou so muche ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????❤
Awesome, just simple scale sounds great
Fantastic lesson !!!thank you very much ,
Thanks Darrell! Your explanation of this is awesome!
Can I use this as a beginner? I don't want to learn theory or reading
I've watched 5 videos on improvisation this week and this is the one I got the most out of so far, the others were good too but they all said the same things.
Trying to improvise is not easy. So frustrating ???? ???? I can do like 3 notes then I get stuck.
Your really being clear and not racing thu. Thank you.
Enlightening! Thanks so much. I'm a violin player (from Canada) but it's all the same.
Awesome video.. Have to audition for an orchestra and was afraid what to do in case they ask me to improvise. Had no idea until now ???? Hopefully now I will be able to practice these techniques in time and become confident before the audition ????????
1. Repeat notes.
2. Vary the tempo (whole, half, quarter, 16th note etc.)
3. Change directions.
4. Skip strings.
5. Add articulations with slide, bend, hammer on, pull off, staccato, legato etc.
Special tip: Spot the root notes of the scale. Create phrases starting and end with root notes.
Thanks for the lesson!!
Something is wrong with me…No matter how hard I try, I suck
I end up playing the same lick again and again…
Best lesson on you tube, my playing has just improved another level, many thanks.
