  • These days, I think we should redefine the word, "Classic Rock" tone or the sound of the earlier days. If someone plays Metallica / Megadeth, is this Classic rock? Or is this something from the Eagles or similar that's classicrock? Or if you use alot more "blues" chords then they're qualified as classic rock…. or is it if someone drop a few GAIN (or less Overdrive) control then it's qualified as Classic Rock? Lol. I believe, there are ton people don't really understand what's considered, real classic rock music (or tones). What's your opinion?? ????

  • You're speaking my language. Wrap that all up in a 19" rackmount chassis for me. Add MIDI preset control, and 2 expressions on various parameters. Yetter bet, build a 14 button 2 pedal board to go with it. Sounds balls out.

  • The original SH1's that came in your Knaggs sounded amazing in the Event Horizon demo.

  • I bought a Ebony {Gibson's term for "black"} Les Paul Standard like the one in this video brand new back in 1980. Traded it after several years, wish I had it back {you know how it goes, like the girl you wish you hadn't broke up with}. I hope whoever has it now is making great music with it.

  • I'll stick with my Marshall for true classic rock tone. And don't mind lugging it around if need be. That's why it's good to have two rigs. If I don't feel like hauling my 2204 and 4×12, I'll take my Friedman PT-20 and 2×12 . The Friedman is small, light and powerful. Gets excellent classic Plexi rock tones if you want it to.

  • Doug, your pickup demos are better rockin' than most people's albums. Thanks for the tone monstering!

  • Saw this video in a SD email to me. I thought, why not take a listen? I was bored. Holy flurking schnitt that is some fantastic tone, playing and whoever recorded this for web publication did a fantastic job. I want to play like Mr. Rappaport when I grow up.

  • Yeah kinda got tricked into coming here. I thought it would be a generic "settings" video but was just an ad for Seymour Duncan stuff. Very disappointed. I guess even Seymour Duncan participates in CLICKBAIT these days.

  • Classic rock sound? I bet Johan Segeborn here on YT is THE expert when it comes to that!

  • The Palladium pedal is by far one of the best pre-amp gain stage pedals I've ever tried. Having that paired with the PowerStage 170 has basically become my go-to rig for all gigging these days. Started out mainly thinking it'd be just for fly dates etc. because of how compact and reliable it is, but now I've been using it regularly too for rehearsals and local/regional gigs as well. I'm also using a pickup booster, delay, and Forza overdrive with it ( I do use the boost on the Palladium as well at times). The feedback I've gotten from the audience after the shows has been really positive regarding my tone, and I'm happy as hell with it. And I've used it so far for various gigs playing everything from doom metal to power pop/rock stuff, so the Palladium is pretty damn versatile in my book.

  • Love Doug's playing style!!  About the signal chain, is he using the Forza and Palladium at the same time?  I guess I'm confused on why you would need both the Forza and Palladium.  Seems redundant?  Anyway,  awesome video and that PowerStage 170 is intriguing!
