They sound like shit at low volume and through headphones. If you turn them up past 4 they sound awesome, as good as any other solid state amp.
I used one of these amps for like a decade from age 16 to 26. Pretty much stuck with either of the Metal options mostly and dialed my own tone from there. Occastionally I enjoyed using the red light insane setting to replicate the bridge riff of Telos from BTBAM lol
They sound like shit
I love my line 6
Not that insane, just kinda crunchy
I loved my Line 6 Spider 212 what the heck
Still sounds better than my distortion presets :/
I still have one out of three amps, they’re okay and the clean setting is nice
I have a spider 5 and Spider 3 the people that say they suck probably bought a broken one, have crappy amp settings, or messed it up some how
I had a micro spider and it was such a fun little amp
that's just crowbar tone
im.victim of ownig the spyder iv 15
Respect to the guy who respected the guy who respected the guy who disrespected the guy who said first
Isn't it mostly the cab that makes the insane sound bad? It has like a weird speaker setup in it with tweeters.
Just use a cable ur only 2ft away lmao
Man, I'd really like a bass amp with settings like that. I don't want to fool with getting pedals out and hooked up, but alas I don't think there are any
I personally love them, i wish i could get my hands on one
These amps were awesome.
Great bedroom amps. For the time, you were getting unbelievable tone and range at the price point of those things. Even at a practice space, they sound pretty good.
However, put a 57 in front of one and you'll know right away why they have a reputation for being junk.
I mean it's kinda booty
It’s hated because it’s it’s good and cheap for beginners to get a taste of most of these standard FX without spending 500-1000
My first amp was a random johnson practice amp, I had that and a zoomg2 multi fx pedal for so long. I was so jealous of two of my friends that had these. Did you get a surprisingly okay tone with a zoom G2 pedal though. As a kid I was so confused by a lot of it, but went through the manual a few times and figured out that there's cab simulators compressors and everything in that little $100 pedal.
I’ve had a ton of them, loved every single one
These specific amps got an UNREASONABLE amount of hate in the 2010s.
I don't remember anyone really hating them until the loud guy made a career out of it. They were generally regarded as good beginner/practice amps.
