Today it’s the best cheap guitar amps in the world, well according to me anyway. I’ve tried a whole bunch of amps on the channel, and I thought I’d try to help you decide which amp is best for you in the budget range. These come as heads, modelling amps, and valve amps.
I hope you enjoy!

  • I have the Marshall DSL 1, with a 1×12 cab as a practice amp, and it's great.
Oh, it has a good fx loop as well.

  • How is the new Harley Benton DNAFX AmP20 practice amp? Thanks. Elmo, I love your channel.

  • Glad I bought a Pulse 15W head & Pulse 1×12 cab back in 2020. It's a white tolex version of the black Tolex version Carlsbro EVO series that has been since discontinued. A Chinese company ended up buying the company. Carlsbro was one of the Big 4 for British amps in the 1950's. Back then there was Vox, Selmer, WEM & Carlsbro. Marshall didn't show up as the Big 5 European amps until the 1960's. Historically, Jim Marshall sold Carlsbro amps before Marshall amps.

Another I like is the VHT. Similar to Carlsbro, a Chinese company bought out VHT and Fryette stuck around long enough before starting Fryette Amps. Who knows if Fryette makes anything that is affordable today ?

At any rate, I'd recommend a Fender Mustang series that predates the current LT series Fender has. Then there are the Fender Champion series that has the same modeling that the Mustang (pre-LT) series has. There's always the go to for Boss Katana. The Joyo Bantamp series & even the Bugerra 5 watt tube amps (head or combo) are like the Orange Micro series. Plenty of decent preowned amps out there. If I were doing it all over again ? But a PA system, then use the amp in a box pedals & roll the dice on that. Probably some Pyle Pro DJ/Karaoke PA system with the amp in a box pedal of choice. And there's a reason that Guitar Center pushes the Orange Crush series combos. Analog solid state circuit that is a solid practice amp. for the money the 20W Orange Crush combo is quite affordable still as an option.

  • Got a Laney Lion Foundry Super 60 112. From experience, 1W 8" speaker combos are a waste of money. The bigger cab and 12" speaker make such a difference. It's a great, solid-state that feels like a tube! 0.675 – 60W. Has an effects loop and XLR output.
Love the Spark Mini still! Got the Steve Vai one in a sale. Many Thanks.

  • With the first amp, the amount of noise is considerable compared with the others. A gate would be in order.
Please, do a video on the XLR and how to use it and what it does or won't do with effect pedals.

  • Fender recently came out with a new version of the Mustang LT 50 called the Mustang LTX50. Are you going to check that out? I’m curious what you think about the new LTX 50 vs the old LT 50.

  • Not that I don’t appreciate watching you play, but the next time you do a video like this can you please focus more on camera shots of the amps themselves (size, features, knobs, front/back etc) and less on you playing. Hard to get an informed perspective on each amp when they’re all just shown sitting in the background. Thanks!

  • I bought the pre infinium Bugera v5 from Guitar Center for $149 USD around when it came out as a quieter home use alternative to my 33 watt 212 Crate tube amp. I installed a Jensen C8R speaker to see if it would help and it didn't really lol. It sat unused for like 13 years til I decided to sell it for no reason a few years back. I regret selling it since I moved into a smaller place. I've since bought like four 8" practice amps since I can't crank my tube amps anymore.

  • The best cheap amp is no longer made.
It was the Yamaha JX series. All solid state, comes with TubeScreamer chip and is capable of Marshall-like overdrive when pushed hard. Amazing deep-clean tones too, many jazzers love them.

  • Huge saving once you buy a used amp.

On Facebook market or Reverb or what local thing might be like Craigslist, depending on your country.

Its always less costly once you also buy gear that's not "in fashion" .

  • You went from jeans to shorts back to jeans and from T-shirt to sweater back to sweater back to denim shirt to t-shirt again…..Almost every amp had a new wardrobe choice………What's happening Elmo???
P.S….Dave Simpson and Marshall MG's send their LOVE Elmo…..Good Gravey!!!!….Cheers!!!!

  • I love my Joyo bantamp tweedy. It’s great sound. I haven’t touched my positive grid spark mini, or fender lt25 since getting it.

  • Man I really wish this video was around a few months ago before I went out on a limb and got a katana mini-x (no tone studio, but the gen katana gen 3 tube logic makes it sound brilliant and repsonsive across it's 5 main voices, rechargeable 12hr battery makes it a breeze to just charge and throw on a shelf for whenever I want to stand for a bit and noodle).
While I was surprised the regular katana mini was on here- the practice amp I SHOULD have gotten in hindsight was the spark mini, but now I'm holding out for a mini-2 considering the hardware/processing upgrades they did for the spark 2 50w. Do you think the playing response for the positive grid stuff is comparable or better than the equivalent roland/boss "tube logic" offerings?

  • I'm surprised you haven't yet, but how about a comparison between the Cube series and the Katana? Micro Cube vs Katana Mini, or combo vs combo.

  • I had the Spark Mini and when I got the Spark Go, I sold the Mini eventually. Maybe the Mini is much louder, but I am fine with the volume of the Go.
