I use mine for live fading out complex loops at the end of my board!! Super fun. Also swells with a load of delay and verb and slide (pedal steel vibe)

If you use it in front of a fuzz face or an amp's drive, you can have the lowest volume set to 3 or 4 so you can dial back to an exact level where the guitar sounds clean(ish). Now you have clean, overdriven and full on distortion with just one pedal. Some people have the max at 8 or 9 and just have a clean boost pedal after that to push it to max.
Hope this makes you want to dust off that volume pedal in the bin drawer. lol…

And this is why I have 4 volume pedals in my rig and have for decades. Easily my most used pedal.
The only real pedals i have in my bedroom is my Digtech WHammy 5th gen and my digtech drop tune pedal. All the other pedals i have is virtual and is in my daw LOL. THen i won't fill my entire room with pedals lol and i don't have to spend so much money on pedals when i can just have most of them virtually as plugins
Don’t use a volume pedal. Just use the volume in your guitar. Volume pedals are useless at any point in your pedal chain.
First pedal I ever got was a volume and I can't live without one now.

Mine sits between my drive effects and wet effects. That way It doesn't affect my gain, and when it cuts, my delay and verb naturally fade.

as much as i love the video you didnt mention the most common way, put it after your dive section so you dont loose the amount of grit you get going into your drives and create that weird more drive as you increase your volume, but before your wet effects to let the tone ring out once you cut. Perfect for swells and builds

I'd say an EQ pedal is the most underrated. It seems no beinginners or "intermediate" players use them or even think about them as a need. It should be most people's first pedal, in my opinion.
