Can A PLUGIN Make Your Guitar Sound Like ALL THESE GUITARS?

Can a plugin really make your Les Paul sound like a Strat? Can you make a 7 string solidbody sound like a Gretsch hollowbody? I investigate Positive Grid’s BIAS FX 2, which includes a bonkers Guitar Match feature – let’s see if it works!

  • Hi , If you could please help me as well….I am a beginner guitarist…I am using bias fx 2 in reaper DAW, I connect my fender strat to focusrite solo 3rd gen, I tried multiple amp effect pedals combinations , i tried messing with the amp settings bass treble mids etc, for some unknown reason my guitar tone sounds muffled, I've been trying to create a tone similar to billie joe from green day but I not able to get a clear clean crunchy rock sound… It's too muffled for some reason…any advice would be highly appreciated….Thanks

  • Do you play the audio through monitors (I’d prefer to avoid headphones full time)? If so, happy with the sound? Any guidance on monitors to purchase for that purpose? Thanks for the review.

  • Isn't it embarrassing the way all these guitar bloggers are raving about how great Bias FX 2 is while playing through these downright horrible tones and pretending that this crap sounds "so-o-o-o good"?

  • This is INSANE lol, anyone who can not milk a good tone out of these things probably would not be able to get one from a tube amp anyway! I have recorded many sessions with Bias FX.

  • Like seriously, I could honestly care less if the guitar matching feature isn't overtone accurate compared to the real thing, but I'm more focused on whether it captures the essence close enough for it to not only be recognizable to the respective type of guitar it's simulating, but to also diversify the signal to vary the tone to the point where it will create better stereo imaging when recording doubles and overdubs. I could give few shits if all the complex algorithms and steamy hot impulse responses somehow fail to magically transform my guitar sound into an entirely different piece of stringed piece of wood! Just gimme an adequate amount of tonal variation and I'll be ok!

  • I really need to know if that preset at 1:34 "Bullet VH4" is based on Bullet For My Valentine PLEASE SOMEONE

  • Interesting feature that seems relatively useful, but eq and input gain can only do so much, to replicate a Strat properly would require some pretty intense simulation algorithms.

  • A gimmick that smartly EQs your guitar to sound different – I personally can't really see a use for that, but I guess considering the simulation guitar models that are available it might be cooler for someone with an actual Strat or LP who wants the sound of the other model to jam around.
I've never been a fan of BIAS, to me it always seemed to be a rather shitty VST for the money that was pushed by paying people like Ola Englund or Keith Merrow to make it sell. Just my opinion though, I'm BIASED by enjoying Overlouds TH3 for over a year now.

  • It’s getting to where I can hear the Kiesel and Modeler tone/voice, as it’s own thing. Rob Chapman was able to pick out the Kemper and Katana blindfolded….
After listening to so much McRocklin, Stevie T, Rabea, Robert Baker, I’d say it’s its own sound. For the price, it beats buying a Marshall, Mesa, etc.

  • This is old news…Revalver 4 from Peavey has done this for years.
Revalver 4 is free…it's a la carte style. Just buy any amps, cabs, pedals you want.
It even lets you rewire the amps to whatever specs you want and has the actual knobs featured on the real amps/all the actual channels. It's really nice having clean and dirty tones from the same amp/preset.

It's a really REALLY overlooked VST and you can even load up other VSTs from within it.

  • Put your MONEY on IR Cabs! Where it dramatically changes your tone…. A $99 Bias Fx 2 Basic with some good IR cab like OWNHAMMER will likely trump a $299 Bias Fx 2 elite with stock cabs in terms of realism…. I Bought OWNHAMMER'S Heavy Hitters 1 and 2 for $60 and it is the best digital purchase that I ever had

  • What pickups are you using trey? My presets sound like poo compared to yours im using a john petrucci humbucker with a bar I forgot the name,

  • I'd like to see you pick a good preset and then switch guitars and see if you get the same sound. Like try a crappy guitar(because that's what I have).

  • So I've been using bias fx 1 for windows for more than an year. No probs. But I do sometimes get probs in level. And I can dial in about anything, but I think it's not 100% the real amp, or even 99%. I find it 97 – 98%! I do plan to buy the fx 2 though! So if somebody wants to help me, I'm grateful

  • 34 amps? And how many of them are usually hidden behind a paywall? Bias FX 1 was a big mistake for me.

  • BIAS is pretty cool and all, but tbh, 300$ for a guitar plugin is kinda steep, isnt it? And thats just bias fx, if you want bias amp and bias pedlas, the bundle is 700$. Thats like…. actual physical high end modeler territory.
