In this video I dive into probably one of the best sounding amp-in-a-box pedals in the market, the Universal Audio Designs Ruby ’63 pedal. This pedal strives to sound exactly like a Vox amp, complete with vibrato/tremolo, the brilliant/top boost sound, as well as tons of under the hood functionality and settings. Please note, all of my sound samples in this video are using ONLY the UAD Ruby ’63 pedal.

I showcase the pedal in many different configurations, live with a rhythm section as well as isolated so you can get a great understanding of what this pedal can do for you and your setup. This pedal would make a great addition to any studio, pedalboard, live rig, or recording session. I hope you like it!

  • very specific question, but i wanted to know your thoughts: i already own a boss ir-2, and i mainly use it for an AC30 sound, but ive been thinking of selling it to buy a uad ruby, since i find it really hard to get good sounds out of the ir-2, and it feels very inaccurate to the ac30 sound, mainly because of how the controls work and how it doesnt say which channel its supposed to be modelling (and why is there a mids control??)

to summarize, if i wanted just the ac30 sound, and the closest thing to it, would the uad ruby be a better choice than the ir-2?
