Yeah, but most concerts only one double stack is working. The rest are all dummy cabs.
It usually goes ONE HALF STACK, or double stack per player.

Megadeth only runs a couple of stacks live just so they can feel the blow of the speakers. All sounds come front of house directly through your earpiece. This eliminates tons of technical difficulties that could occur.
I prefer the double stack because three cabinets throws off the ohms and the head has to work twice as hard and that's how you blow them out….
Alot of times when ypy see a wall of marshall stacks on a stafe its jsut fake with livhts in them ti make it look liek the tubes are glowing and the power is on. The actual heads are back stage with the guitar tech who does all the amp switching and even pedel switxhing for alpt of huge bands. Like slash only pedeals on stsge he actually uses himself is the wah the reat are cinteolled by guitar tech and the cabs run through the pa system and sometimes the cabs are micd up

One stack …is usually… in most venues …. too much…a wall chased me out of a van Halen concert circa 81…it was so loud I couldn't hear the music. And Daves crapoka stripper show made me walk out it sucked????????????????

I always assumed 2/3 of them were for show. I played an open show with 1 jcm2000 and 1 4×12. You could hear it note for note 200 yards away

Lifeson had a wall like that at the beginning of the 2nd set of the R40 tour. It was so funny when he stood in front of it while playing, looking up at the top of it. He was feeling like a god! It was all a joke, of course. None were connected, and only had battery powered power lights.
Literally all you need for a medium sized arena is one stack of three for each member of the band.

I’m a younger rocker at 26 and I’m in an age where smaller is better and more ergonomic, which I understand.
But I love big, bad amps at a nice volume.
So badass….
If anything, the cab that's miked is the the only one being used. Or, there might be a mid-power combo behind the cabs going DI to the console.

This is not any kind of secret . This has been widely known for years .
Most Players don't even use any of the amps and cabs you see onstage .Their real amp and Cab are either backstage or under the stage in an isolation box.
Notice when you watch a modern show you never see a guitar player or his tech adjusting any of the amps and cabs onstage ? Thats because the real amp and cab is out of sight offstage .
Most people have their real gear in a rack backstage where the tech handles all the switching from one amps to another. Some players don't even have a pedal board onstage because all the switching and effects are handled backstage by the amp/Guitar tech.
In alot of cases the heads and cabs you see onstage are dummy cabs with no speakers in them and the head is an empty shell .
Unnecessary. If you can't make one 100 watt Marshall with a 4×12 cabinet sound loud, you're doing it wrong. Most of that is just miced up through the PA anyway.
