Thanks for the vid but to my ears, NONE of these little devices sound good to my ears.
My days of stage play are all but over as I am 70 years old, and gig very little now however, it would be nice to have a GREAT headphone amp simulator to kick it with in home.
Unfortunately Every plug in style headphone amp that I have purchased, and I have most of them… are IMO, crap.
Nothing I have tried or bought takes the place of a decent tube amp and a couple of great pedals.
That includes the NUX MP-3 mighty plug pro, Fender Mustang micro, Boss Katana Go, Positive grid spark 2, Vox plug and play, line 6 pocket pod, Line six pod express etc, etc, etc…
To be fair, I have NOT tried this "Tonex device". Also, I have been sucked in way too many times to try one more of these expensive toys/things. Thanks again for the vid.

Just cant get a good sound out of this tonex thing.On the other hand great tone you got! I just will stick to my preamp pedal plus power amp sim with IRs.Feels so much better and easy to achieve a good tone
Absolutely crazy!!! The Tonex ecosystem inside a half cigarette box (with battery! 'coz portability is not only a size matter!).
I've watched tons of videos about the Tonex Plug today, but I still don't have the answer… and this – Sir – is the right place to ask!
Say i'm outdoor with my guitar, my iPhone, a pair of headphones and the Tonex Plug… and I want to record a VIDEO on my iPhone with the audio from the Tonex Plug sound AND a backingtrack (alltogether!!!!!!)
Can I do THIS? And if yes… HOW? Coz I know that i can record the video with the guitar tone from the Tonex Plug… but… the backingtrack?
And if not… well … tell the Ik Multimedia people to put inside the app: 1) a drum track player and 2) a music player from the iPhone (both with separate volume level!)… so everything will go inside the video! I think it should be only a software upgrade . And if the whole video+audio can go direct in streaming on a social-media platform also… it will be a plus!

You could use an 8th output to plug into a Bluetooth speaker with a 1/8" input? Probably cannot connect to a Bluetooth speaker instead of headphones?
I wish it had the tiny screen the Katana Go has. That way you could tell what the preset was, the three LEDs seem insufficient. All that said, it does sound great!

I have the main TONEX pedal. I just wish it had a pitch shifter so I can jam to tunes that are down one or two steps.

Most recent purchases of 2025 are th Synergy 20 ( which I love) and Valeton gp5. Now this. Guitar makers will start integrating modules inside the Guitar so maybe I'll wait. My 2 cent prediction anyway.
Very cool. They need a standard replaceable battery, though. I'm guessing it is powered when connected through usb. What happens when it won't hold a charge or just gives up the ghost altogether? It becomes a brick, right?
I know, I know, when that happens just trash it because it'll be way outdated. Some of us try to be mindful of the e-waste we generate.

Ok, I get it – they have to send you these things to prompote… There's one small but important issue with all these "headphone amplifiers" regardless of how many functions (useless I'd say) you get in them: they don't have an option to create a 3D space effect (think binaural audio effect which Boss Waza Air did in their headphones). To make it a really great (actually useful) unit – they need to add an option to simulate a 3D space and amp location "in a room". I had multiple headphone amps and all ended up being resold on eBay, just for one simple reason – playing in headphones just doesn't sound great because the sound is blasting straight into your ears. Reality is: if it doens't sound great – you won't continue doing it. It's a simple as that.
Anyhow, I know you can't say things like that in the video because your are getting paid for making the video, but it's just odd that after so many years, every single company making these headphones amps fail at one same aspect. Boss figured out the "amp in a room" simulation part, unfortunately the implementation of amps and overdrives sucked
