  • Would be nice to do such specials about the more common brands like cordoba, La Mancha, Yamaha, Alhambra …ect ect

  • The last guitar – and least expensive one – actually sounded the best to me. The natural Torres is nice as well. The other ones – though louder – were a bit too hollow and lifeless.

  • Hanika guitars are wonderful instruments. I have one myself (56SF) and I'm planning to get another one.
The sound and the playability is outstanding.

  • I bought the New Century Lattice 4 days ago at the Siccas Store in Karlsruhe: great guitar, powerful, bright, balanced. If you are tired of the typically romantic-dark-smooth sound of many classical guitars this could be an alternative!

  • I went to a guitarshop in my hometown with an old guitar made ny Helmut Hanika in 1975 and asked if it was possible to renew it. Then I saw this Hanika 60 PF natural, played it and fell in love with it. I bought it right away! They sent my old guitar to Arnim Hanika and he made such a beautiful instrument out of my old guitar❤❤. The money they took for it was ridiculous low! So thank you again Armin!

  • I've tried a lot of guitars in my life, and the Hanika guitars have consistently been the worst by far in the price range.

  • The New Century Lattice wins by a country mile for me. Beautiful tone, balance, sustain, volume etc.

  • @SiccasGuitars
IMPO, the 54 PF (the less expensive last guitar) was the best starting and ending point out of these guitars.

Each note had a pure and distinct tone that stood on its own, but was still supported by naturally balanced harmonics & overtones, and not too bright, not too loud. Maybe not quite as dynamic as some of the others, but the best overall "voice" (to my ears).

However, one thing I would like to know is HOW these are recorded?

What Microphone and preamps/recorder are used, and in what position and distance relative to the guitar?

Is there a rug or carpet on the floor and what are the acoustic properties of the room? General dimensions and are there a large or small glass windows, etc?

Many microphones, even very good ones, have a built-in rising response in the "presence" region, which is a lift or gradual boost in the upper midrange and treble region that can result in an overly bright or "chimy" sound with exaggerated overtones and a sound that doesn't represent the true spectral/tonal balance of the instrument.

Luckily, due to the apparent clarity, resolution, and detail in the harmonics and overtones, it seems that you are using a high quality microphone(s), most likely a small diaphragm condenser I would guess…perhaps an Earthworks SR25, Josephson C617 SET with Microtech Gefell MK221 capsule, or Audio-Technica AT5045?

But it would be nice to know which microphone and its placement & aiming just for reference in regards to the spectral balance?

    Thank you.

  • Thanks a lot for introducing those different price levels. I like that Natural Torres. It appears so well balanced to me. I just think that the 1a Torres seems to be slightly clearer in the high notes. I also like both the 58 and 54. To me the 58 is slightly clearer with more sustain, but the 54 seems to be very balanced.

Just my 1st impressions. I have restarted playing classical guitar after around 20 years break due to job etc (the usual stuff). So I am a beginner or re-beginner…

  • Thank you for this. I've been thinking for some time of getting a Hanika guitar. The Torres natural is my favourite of these, from what I can tell through earphones. I really like that arrangement of Bella Ciao too: where can we geta transcription off out?

  • don´t forget, Guitars with cedar Tops are alway louder than spuce tops and have more midrange.!!!!

  • Thank you for the video! Very informative! What i take from it is that across the line of Hanika guitars presented the sound signature is 99% the same and the differences between all of the guitars are very small. 54Pc model sounded very very good! The only one that i perceive through headphones that is cleary a class above de others in sound refinement and overall is the model 1A which is like minimum 5000 euro more than the rest. I liked the most and will take in consideration for future purchase Hanika 58C. It seems to be the sweetspot in price/quality ratio. Very beautiful guitar and very sweet, clear sounding with alot of sustain. It would be great if you could do the upper range of Yamaha, like GC22, 32 and 42. GC 32 is the competition for Hanika 58. Best regards!

  • Interesting. I came up with an armrest about a year ago which is extremely similar to the one used on the Hanika New Century Lattice. It makes playing the guitar so much easier, comfortable, and does not reduce the bass size of the soundboard. In addition, such an armrest design can be added to just about any acoustic guitar. According to Thomann, the Hanika Armrest is glued to the side of the guitar.

  • The 54 spruce model sounded extremely warm, the warmest of the group. Re the other ones, the most potent to my ears was the expensive DT one. It was not as warm as the traditionally built ones, but with different strings and getting to know its limits it is the most concert oriented one.

  • How amazing! I only started learning how to play the guitar 6 weeks ago & I'm documenting my entire learning journey on here so this was super motivational!
