Genius Soundboard Design! Adrian Heinzelmann 2024 Classical Guitar Review | GuitarCollection.com
See the guitar here: https://www.guitarcollection.com/products/adrian-heinzelmann-spruce-maple-groove-top-2024
This one was here and gone in a a matter of hours! A guitar by one of the most prominent of the Berlin Luthiers: Adrian Heinzelmann.
Adrian has been on my radar for a while, as many colleagues and professionals have been choosing his instruments. As you can imagine, this has created quite a demand which has results in Adrian’s waitlist being many many years long!
This one came as a surprise to me for many reasons. For one, I was expecting my very first Heinzelmann here at GuitarCollection.com in just a month or two (a cedar/rosewood “Groove top”, and then this one arrived early!
I was also surprised and delighted by the woods on this guitar. It doesn’t get much better than a great piece of flamed maple, and this one has me in awe.
This guitar made quite in appearance in our weekly live stream, and certainly turned some heads and ears, so to say.
The sound of this one is not only huge, color, and even, but also incredibly natural. As far as I’m concerned, this is possibly the hardest quality for any luthier to achieve when attempting a modern design, especially one like this which also comes with lots of volume. In a sea of double tops, this one won’t be the loudest, but it will certainly be one of the most natural sounding and colorful instruments.
The playability also goes unmatched. Since I hadn’t played one of Adrian’s instruments before, when I ordered an instrument from him (several years ago!) I was very detailed and what I wanted with the neck. However, when I received this guitar, which wasn’t to my spec, I noticed that my message was unnecessary. The neck is already perfect, well at least to my preferences to the “T”.
Well, this guitar is already gone and sold, but I wanted to share with you not just the video, but my thoughts and some photos.
Lastly, thank you so much for reading, and for viewing my website. My website host gives me all of the statistics and I can see that many of you are watching my videos and reading my posts from well across the world. Don’t forget to say hi and maybe let me know what Guitar you are looking for and what you might be interested in. I might just have one in or coming soon.
Speaking of, of course, there is a new Heinzelmann coming very, very soon. Please write if you’d like to learn more.

What music is he playing at the beginning of the video ?
What is the other piece you play in this video apart from the Pavana by Tarrega ? i recognise the tune but not the name of the piece or the composer . Thanks .
9:45 kitty spotted :3
I normally don't prefer maple. I prefer the sound of this maple guitar over some rosewood guitars, and mahogany.
Sounds great! By the way, what is the name of the piece you played at the opening?
Hi Evan. That dimpling of the wood in the center of the headstock is called stippling – a decorative woodworking technique. Great review, thanks.
woe! a lot of warmth. I love it.
Does Buddy play?
I sold all others after received the spruce one????
Sooths the Soul
Try the Knobloch erithacus basses with their QZ nylon on it
Sounds great. I own another maker but it’s a maple back and sides and spruce top and love the combo and the maple looks awesome
Amazing
Wow.. just wow. From the beauty of the guitar to the construction and then back to the sound just wow.. such a sweet and strong sound, it’s sure of its self. I rush right away to his webpage to see if he makes any flamenco.. my heart was broken when I saw he didn’t.
Edit: just got to the part where you mention the golpeador on the top of the guitar. That’s what gave me hope that he also makes flamenco guitars lol
Im never a fan of new instrument sound qualities, but this guitar immediately reminded me of a$10,000 50 year old A1 flamenco cedar guitar , has that special kind of percussive attack , hollow wooden drum type sound from the whole instrument resonating. Im curious how light wieght this instrument is compared with a traditional classical
What a big, fat voice for a small guitarr!
agree on the sound qualities, as if the note first ripens before its release
"The sweet sound of demonetization" I felt that lol. Great video, Evan!
????????
Carbon strings on a carbon guitar hollows out the sound significantly.
I prefer a traditional guitar.
What's the best way to connect with you?
….this video hasn't been shown before…or have I dreamt up the presentation??
Great tone.
That sounds amazing.
What strings were you using? Edit: I commented too soon lol.
great tone and resonance
what's the piece at 6'55? lovely…
ok damn
Beautiful sounding guitar. Are the upper and lower bout widths a little smaller than usual?
Something incredible kind of happened with me watching this video. Since you started demonstrating the sound of this guitar i got my self thinking how much Tarrega's Pavana would sound amazing in it. I wanted so much to hear it played in this guitar and suddenly you somehow had the idea to play it too!
It is best to measure action by fretting at the first fret. Otherwise you get a false reading since the action height of the nut can influence the 12th fret action reading. As much as 0.010"! Learned that from John Gilbert early on in my lutherie career in the 1990's while at his workshop. It's more accurate.
How much is the cost?
I’ve got a spruce top one and a cedar top one as well. These are the nicest sounding guitars I have in my collection
Amazing sound! Thanks.
To be fair, Knobloch makes the warmest sounding carbon strings. It's the only carbon string I enjoy on my spruce top guitar, all others brand's carbon strings sounds waaaay too bright. It has so much volume and sustain and very forgiving on right hand techniques, it almost makes guitars sound more expensive for people that try it for the first time. But as you said the 1st string does lack some sweetness. It's the string to show off and to perform, but nylon is still better for intimate exploration of music.
Well, that'll teach me for writing a comment before I listen to the entire video!!! Sorry about that – You talked at length about the 1st sting. See you soon.
Michael
Beautiful guitar and wonderful sound. Fascinating soundboard design. I want to look up the thickness of the soundboard and depth of the channels, but he may not list that. Do I detect some roll off of the fullness of the 1st string around the 12th fret? Anyway, great sound and another great review. Thanks.

One will probably be „crazy“ if he/she plays this guitar in a small room. Too loud/powerful
