  • I usually tune my guitar a full step down. Do you recommend extra high tension so that it would feel high tension when tuned down?

  • I would be very cautious with putting high tension strings on a guitar which doesn’t have neck strut rod. The high tension strings would pull/bend the neck up and create high action for the guitar. For a guitar with neck strut rod. The bow neck and high action can be adjusted by tightening the strut rod.

  • I went to D'addario high tension on my Yamaha and I loved the sound but the intonation went crazy. A and B too sharp, Low E and D too flat. Ugh.
