Can I Make The Valeton GP-5 Sound As Good As A Fractal?

I heard you like digital rigs, so I captured a digital rig with a digital rig for a digital rig..

  • The Valeton NAM amp tones are ok, but the effects are not good. They’re in the neighborhood of an old Zoom 505. Reverbs are metallic, chorus isn’t even good. They all sound like the GP5 is lacking processing power. ToneX FX are much better. Fractal isn’t even the same ballpark.

  • I just ordered a copy from Aliexpress for $50 only ) I'm excited like a kid ????

  • It’s not only eq difference as some suspect. It’s about, as you note, playing dynamics, which can be a more or a less important aspect of a music style/genre., that whole “amp cleans up if you pick softer”. But it’s not only about playing softly…

  • Very well made video. Indeed, a perfect backup for a Fractal Rig. You can hear the difference very clearly though in my opinion. But it is crazy what level of sound you get for under 100 bucks today. Totally crazy.

  • Great video. The GP5 is pretty amazing for like 1/10th the price however so it is a bit unfair. To me as a listener/audience, I would say that the GP5 sounds about 90% there for a fraction of the price and far more simpler to lug around and easy. I got the GP5 and Tonex and ended up just returning the Tonex. It was arguably only a tiny amount better for 4x the price and took up 4x the space on my pedal board and still need to have other effects pedal to go with the Tonex, so in the end the GP5 is a heck of a bargain! Amp, effects and tuner for like $80…really hard to beat

  • Unless you’re a professional producer or sound engineer, there’s no reason to justify paying more than $75. 99.9% of people on Earth won’t hear any difference between a Fractal and a Valeton.

  • I downloaded a nam capture of an engl 25 on the valeton GP-5 and kicked my neighbor's ass!

  • So, we can see that thr GP5 can playback captures from NAM that were upload by modellerd and sound good, but then doesn't that make it just a medium in which to play tones through, but not a tone creator itself? Is the GP5 capable of creating tones from scratch? In other words is it only good for playing captures from pre-recorded amps/modelers? Also How are the presets?

  • Close enough for government work. And for live performaces. Valeton is hitting some heavy home runs the last couple of years, especial;ly given the paltry asking prices for their gear. A true blind test would be quite revealing here all the same. And examples in full band mixes. Nice one! HNY 2026 to you and yours and to everyone here. SUBBED!

  • Interesting that the GP-5 can do NAM & the FM3 does not…? ????
GP-5 has filled a HUGE gap at a low low low price. ????????????

  • Great tone for sure. Is there any way you cozld share those captures? That would actually make me buy the unit…. via your link…. preferable zhe gp 50

  • The price difference is worth the GP5 purchase , the audio difference is very similar. I'm listening to this video on a Bose SP1 speaker.

  • Chasing tone is a mental condition that all guitar players have. Is there a cure?????????????

  • It doesn't get a world apart sound wise, but the price is miles distant.
I feel like is the samething as comparing a stock Epiphone and a stock Gibson Les Paul. There's difference, but it is not a world of difference that justify the price for the majority of players. Even though fractal sounds a bit better, it is not as good as real amp.????

  • In my opinion the difference is negligible .. it's a tweak of EQ that's it. I'm really impressed with the gp5 how it held up. Great demo great video thanks.

  • im waiting to get the gp50. i got the sonicake pocket masters instead of the gp5 because of the battery power. now gp50 has a battery. and better i/o. i suspect no difference in NAM quality though will still have some format conversion issues that prevent it from scoring high in the null tests.

  • so the conclusion is, pay 20 times more to get 10% better tone…..diminishing returns at its finest

  • Thank you for a interesting video! I have gp50 coming but this was really interesting as sounds will be same. How do you see using the pedal into an actual amp and utilizing eq, comp, modulation from there? Are the effects and sound quality there or does having it in the chain affect your tone?
