I Bought The Cheapest Acoustic Guitar Off TEMU!

I bought the cheapest acoustic guitar off Temu. I originally bought it so I could paint it (and most likely smash it…), but I thought, why not review it?! Anyhoo, here it is! Would you play it?

Video is not sponsored and the original listing has been discontinued, but if you search Temu for ‘beginner acoustic guitar’ I’m sure you’ll find something close.

  • On new strings don’t you have to tune it a few times until the strings stretch settle and stay tune?

  • Temu sound the best …if we take the price out of the way temu wins ….if we take into account pricing temu loses

  • Not terrible for what it costs. I'm looking for something cheap to learn on but I think I can do better than this.

  • how you gonna compare a cheap steel string to an expensive nylon classical… compare it to an expensive steel string sure, but a classical? makes no sense

  • I started in the 69.. this guy I knew went to auctions & bought me some electric guitars, absolute crap guitars, really high action, harmonics were out, you name it. But I was too embarrassed to tell him, I didn’t want them even for free. I bought a Maton, I wasn’t happy with the sound, I bought another cheapie, which sounded better than the Maton lol. My friend recently bought a Seagull S6.. man that thing sounds nice.. I’m selling my 1976 Gibson Les Paul as I don’t play in bands anymore. But that Temu, reeks of a cheap guitar, but for $30 .. ????

  • You commented about the smell of the cheap guitar: There have been concerns about toxic contamination in some imported guitars and strings from China, leading to recommendations to choose products made in the USA for safety. Not a good Idea to fill your house with toxins. When you think about it, the cost and shipping they ask, you have to ask yourself, Why?

  • Maybe you can try JR. Sanjaya , they have 30-40ish bucks guitars that sounds good

  • The intonation sounds fine, that’s all that matters besides the string height, and for a beginner high strings help build your strength. P.S. America First ????????

  • I'd say its like speakers…if you can make a song sound good on very cheap speakers it ll sound good on every speaker….if you start out with a 30 $ guitar and you stay on long enough to make a few songs sound good you can buy a more expencive one. If you got a bigger budget start with a guitar around 100$….
I bought a Yamaha classic guitar with nylon strings for i think it was 120$…later i found an EKO Ranger 6 with all metal strings for 40$ on a Fleemarket. The lady told me she bought it in the 1980s…Since most of the stuff i like to play ist Country or metal ballads the EKO fits way better and ofc it sounds…more…round…complete to me.
I looked it up on the internet and found someone in Japan selling a guitar that looked like mine for 850$…because it was vintage or so lol. A new Ranger 6 starts at around 100$. Some go up pretty high in price but since i don't know much about guitars im just happy i found a good old guitar that sounds nice for only 40 dollars :). It is WAY havier then the Yamaha…i hope that means it was built out of better materials lol. Don't be fooled into buying a guitar for 1000$…if your not very good and make money playing the guitar you don't need such a hich priced instrument…if you can afford it tho…well do what you like with your money. But sounding good is all about the person who plays…not the thing in your hand. Ofc once you become a real master at it and you fill up stadiums of ppl who pay to listen to you everything changes 😛

Once you are a master in your "Craft" the tool does not make a difference anymore. It's the same with cars…most ppl who drive a car thats worth millions have no idea what this car can do…If you re not a race driver you dont need a car that can drive 400Km/h…

  • Cheap guitars are what they are you have to except them for their limitations but even cheap ones that have steel strings sound way better than the cheap classical guitars on the other hand more expensive
Guitars don't always equate to a better guitar
As at the £500 – £600 mark you get a good quality guitar but after that you are just paying for a more exclusive brand or one made from
More rarer materials that give slight differences to the tone but doesn't equate all that much to being a better guitar but at the end of the day it really comes down to how much you want to
Or can afford to spend on a guitar

  • Take it on a camping trip and when you are finished playing, give it away to a kid that is interested and will appreciate it.

  • of course the value of the instrument doesn't worth the time you spend in adjustment but under the hypotesis that the fretboard is pretty ok (and the distance between each fret is right) you can control the action at 12th fret because if it is too high (over 4 millimiters) the intonation begin seriously nasty. In this case you have to lower (a lot…) the saddle. if the intonation is even bad, control the scale lenght. Generally the distance between the frets tells you the scale lenght (there are online software made specifically for this). if the scale lenght measured in your instrument in different from the theoretical one here is the problem…and you have to carve a new saddle slot. In all of this, if you're handy with DIY, you're still in the right place, but if the guitar already needs to be taken to a luthier, it's clearly better to give up. The guitar, especially the first one, must be chosen carefully. Not a $1,000 instrument, but a $150-$200 instrument, no less. In my opinion, $350 is an excellent budget option…not too cheap, not too expensive, and it will last you for years. (sorry for my english, i'm italian 🙂 )

  • That saddle needs to move back quite a bit. I would try to fill the existing slot and cut a new one with a router further back. I don't know what's up with these Chinese guitars, they all seem to have this same problem with a poorly placed bridge.
If you have a bend in the neck, it would be cheapest to just file down the proud frets. Not ideal, but better than nothing.

  • I'm 63 and that Temu is better than any acoustic guitar I owned in my youth. Sounds great when played well, thank you.

  • Many cigar box guitars have free floating bridges. The strings often attach at the end of the body. The bridge can be moved to get best intonation.

  • I've got a Martin D-41, but I don't take it out and knock it around. I have another cheap one which I take it to the beach, BBQ or dump it in the car even on a hot day.

  • I have been playing classical and electric guitar for 5 years I have 3 classicals and 1 electric guitar but I want to get a acoustic one and I saw the Temu ones and I was like for 30 bucks why not?

  • Just spend $200 on a yamaha if you're that desperate. A $200 yamaha is a COMPLETELY playable instrument. I've held them in my hands, and I play on Martins all day, take my word for it, yamaha is wonderful. When you hold one, you can tell they're cheaper, but only in style, they sound and play really nice!

  • You should have immediately tweaked it, even before playing. Lubricate and tighten the tuners. Lower the nut. Lower the saddle. Relocate the bridge? Polish/inspect the frets. Heavier set of coated strings to bring the highs down. Ebony bridge pins to quiet it further. Did we learn if it has a truss rod or not?

  • That's a great price for a stage basher! They could make good Tiki Torches or even a paddle for a row boat….$30 is shipping from China give or take a dollar.
