Just get a TC Helicon play acoustic
Acoustic?
This is a lot of gear ????
Ok, I have a stupid question… when he says at 9:20 the amp settings are "flat" or "dry", does that mean everything (bass, mid, treble) on "1" or everything at 12 o'clock (midway)?
Ben is the man!
Spectacular video and all the helpful advice presented in such an engaging form! Thank you very much for filming this!
Duct tape, 4 gang , paper pad and black sharpie , as red set lists go invisible under…red lights… mini amp, spare mic and XLR.( this alone means you can play without a fully working PA) ..capo, 3 leads, a few mini 90 deg leads, mini led clip light, tuner, that Behringer DI box, paracord( spare strap, other emergency uses…), a few tools, geeeetar stand , mic stand, everything with your name or number on it, and a pair of heavy hiking socks…………….to stuff in the stage sound level meter of course!!!
Thank you Ben!
Great tips / advice!!!!
Water…
Ow … don’t take that behringer di with you. Take a proper DI with you if you need one.
Why do most acoustic guitars sound terrible plugged in?
I don't even play acoustic guitar, I just like Ben ????♂
Awesome, Ben! Great advice and excited for my own first gig in a months time! Quick (maybe dumb) question – do you recommend putting new strings on for the gig or changing them and then playing with them for some hours before the gig to avoid them going out of tune?
Always keep ductape with you.
How to prepare for acoustic gig… bin acoustic, get a tele and an amp!
Hey Ben…what was the amp you were using?
????????????
This is what the kids want, and those of us who took up guitar much later on in life????. Ben has great teaching skills. More videos like this from Ben please ????
Don't forget earplugs! Hearing protection is important, and if it's a loud gig you should be wearing at least an inexpensive set.
“Those people asking”?….. I feel attacked sir
I looked under the video for the info I required and drowned in a sea of marketing. One thing you don't have, though, is fake hands. I have no hands. Looking for medium-sized hands with thinner lady fingers and nails painted in shocking pink. I am a man, but hey, I can have any type of hands I want. The customer is always right.
For ages, I've been telling musicians, be they in my bands or if I'm doing sound for them, to bring everything they need to get to the console. Sure, I'll say, the venue or the sound rental company promised they had it all… but why take the chance? This stuff is very affordable and, with the exception of strings, picks and batteries, you won't need to replace it for years, if ever. A couple hundred bucks or so for peace of mind? Well worth it.
Invest in a pair of brown trousers.
Don't forget a capo!!! Even if you dont play with one, some other guitarist will definitely ask to borrow one to play Wonderwall 😀
Really useful, thank you Ben! I would add a few cloths and a microfibre towel. Some venues are really sweaty!
Extension cable to plug into mains as most plug sockets can be miles away from stage or area pub or club want you to play in. I think you also need a spare strap and guitar stand as well. I just use one pedal TC Helicon Play Acoustic has Body Rez to give guitar a more authentic acoustic sound, plus it has harmoniser that follows the chords you play with all sorts of options, but again I only use high harmony and two high harmony. Still a very good pedal for acoustic show with tuner, looper, and endless combos of sounds. I just use it through Sub Zero Line Array Column PA. Great sound and easy to control. I think most importantly you need to have a car or van to transport you around to gigs, sounds obvious but it's crucial.
Be prepared to play wonder walls for a few times . . . .
Great work Ben! Excellent demo. Could you share the brand of your brown button up?
I don't gig with an acoustic or w/e I'm just here for a Ben video.
Guitar strap guitar stand?
❤awesome
Can you make a video about what would be the most affordable as a new guitar player, if I want to take my playing from the living room to a bar Gig. I have a normal Acoustic guitar. Would it be to buy a new electric acoustic guitar and amp or buy gear to mic up the guitar.
First!
