I think as you do.
Hollow electric can't replace the colorfull and wooden full spectrum resonance of an acoustic.
But unplugged it is a very good option for the late practicing hours when children and wife are sleeping.
Nope the electric can not sound as good as a good quality acoustic. I know the yellow pedal by boss called the acoustic simulator gets a great sound as far as an acoustic sound trough an electric due to that Yello lil pedal ,but semi hollow body and an quality built acoustic aren't the same sound no matter what!
Bro just turn some knobs up and down on your amp and it will sound like an acoustic.
Thin hollow fared much better than I would expect. A deeper hollow will be better, but would not reach exact spot of a taylor…
The flat top will alaways sounds warmer and louder than a arctop guitar. But hollow body has less maintenance and can resist more from warping in the weather.
My epiphone Casino is the best acoustic electric guitar I have ever owned. I play an HPL Martin with Fishman electronics but really the Casino can be an acoustic alternative and especially if you use an eq pedal with it.
sorry, but that's a dumb question. (one that doesn't even merit a response)
There were some slight buzzes on the semi hollow. Was it really set up well?
The hallow Taylor speaks to me more than the hallow, thank you very much for the review!
Loved the should have the hollow body more than the acoustic guitar. It sounded more crisp and not were sharper.
I really wanted the hollow body to sound as good or better because I'm a minimalist, but no, there is a WORLD of difference
The HollowBody sounds kina lofi, sounds cool
The body being thinner a semi will never be the same as an acoustic, the benefit is really just for practicing at home when you don't feel like plugging in and the aesthetic look of the semi.
so the answer is no, thanks.
hollowbody sounded like unplugged electric but louder, no warmth.
a shame, i hate the look and feel of acoutsics
suena como acustica pero sin cuerpo, creo que con un buen preamp que le suba graves estaria mas que perfecto
I own several hollow bodies and semi-hollow bodies along with two acoustics. There is a HUGE difference in acoustic tone and especially projection between even a wide hollow body and my acoustics. The semi-hollow bodies are barely comparable in a real context other than they are acoustically louder than a solid body.
I guess if you just want a guitar that you don’t want to plug-in to hear decently, a hollow or semi-hollow body could work well enough just playing and practicing at home. I often play my hollow bodies without plugging them in and I don’t really do that much with my solid bodies. However, if you want to perform live or record acoustically, for most situations, a wide hollow body just won’t do what an acoustic will do and a semi-hollow or thin hollow body absolutely will not do what an acoustic will do.
I agree completely……
Damn, it's in school massacre language…
Exactly what I was looking for: you reveal your setup and let the guitars speak for themselves! Thanks!
Thank you for the comparison.. I practice my hollow body at night and unplugged to when everyone else has gone to bed. I plug it in when i can. But the tone difference between that and the acoustic is huge.
It's nice to have a guitar that can be plugged in and mic'd at the same time. It's like having double tracking for free.
Seriously? The acoustic has waaaaay more bass response and fullness. Not even close.
This could be the exact video I need right now. I play fingerstyle at hotels with a classical thin body guitar but sometimes, they ask me to play for 3 or 4 hours. Its killing me, my fingers and my backs. Playing with the most suitable hollow body guitar and with the suitable balancing, could be the answer. Thanks for this.
