3 Minute Review #6 – Lakland Skyline Geezer Butler Signature 4-String Bass

Three minute review of the Lakland Skyline Geezer Butler Signature 4-String Bass. Review starts at 1:33

This bass was for sale here (SOLD in April 2021):

This Lakland bass weighed in at 10lbs on my bathroom scale.

I couldn’t find a page for the Skyline version of this bass on the Lakland site. All I see there is a page for the much more expensive US version: https://www.lakland.com/product/geezer-butler-signature-bass/

  • I have a chance to get one of these in the pink (not sure I will like the pink when i see it)…owner says its 9.3lbs – the thin nut may be my biggest hurdle. Thx for the videos – subb'd.

  • Basses are heavy. Relatively. But they should be.
I'm sick of these featherweight basswood things out there. Neck dive outta control.
Save up your money and get a real guitar like one of these Lakland.

  • Hi. Is the neck similar to the Precison bass or the Jazz Bass ? How powerfull is the EMG Geezer Pickups are they similar to the Seymour Duncan SPB 1 or the SPB 3 Pickups? Thanks

  • I have that same bass, weight is about 10lbs 10oz, but it's so well balanced that the feeling when playing is just the same as any of my lighter Fenders that are a couple of lbs less. It's definitely not a boat anchor nor a feather weight; but it really is a very well balanced instrument. I play 3-4 hour gigs with a 4" padded leather strap and with no issues. The tone on this baby is to die for, and much oof it comes from that super resonant piece of ash plus the EMG Geezer's…

  • I don't like the sound at all for slap…..but I ain't wanting this bass for slap anyhow. I'm gonna get a Music Man bass exclusively for slap. I'm wanting this bass for finger picking Luke Geezer does and to use with a pick, so no worries. I been wanting this bass for a while and plan to get coming up. Thanks for the video so I can hear what it sounds like using your fingers. I'm definately gonna get one….just not for slap, lol

  • Excellent video, sir!

My Lakland Skyline 44-60 is quite heavy, too, but it equates to the best tone that I've ever heard. It plays like nothing else I've ever had in my hands.

I use a padded Comfort Strap, then play an hour and a half set with no problem.

A Lakland bass through a DNA 1350 head and 410 cabinet are a magic combination.

  • I love the,"I always leave the tone all the way up." I mean, so do I like 99.9% of the time. So much time wasted on Youtube bass demos with the tone down, to me at least.

  • Nothing but love for Laklands. If the weight is too much put a set of those emg gzr pickups in a lighter bass.
