5 String Bass Guitar Technique – The “B Hold” Anchor Technique

Behold! This is a right hand bass guitar technique that I developed for playing a 5 string bass. I’m calling it the “B Hold” anchor technique. It allows you to keep track of where your right hand is in relationship to the strings, without looking. It also is a way to mute the low B string so it doesn’t rumble when you’re not playing it. It gets it’s name based on the fact you anchor your ring finger on the “B” string.

  • It seems the guy doesn’t need the B string! It’s just a long wire muted thing to rest the ring finger and in one time in a million you pluck the big low to justify the extra weight you’re carrying… Most dudes buy their 5 or 6 strings basses to look professional. This is the case.

  • I figured this out on my own a long time ago. I didn't know anyone else muted this way.

  • I'll try it, but looks slow and cumbersome. Just before this video, I learned about the "floating thumb" technique by Todd Johnson. I'll try 'em both, and see how it goes. ????????‍♂️

  • Thank you for the video. Tip: You may want to edit out all the background information. The first 3 + minutes aren't useful to most viewers.
