A lot of slap exercices start on open E or A strings. However you do it, an open E string slapped sounds kind of crappy. Most real life slap pieces i see (not exercices, actually riffs or solos) are played rather high on the fretboard with no open strings. So what is the point of an exercise based on open E string ?
I can't get that sound at all,I think it's my pickups? I have a single coil soapbar pickup towards the neck. When I slap the e string it clicks the pickup.
