7 Packs of Strings, 1 Acoustic – Ernie Ball String Comparison
Ernie Ball sent us 7 different packs of their most recent range of acoustic guitar strings to test out, so we thought it would make an interesting video to try them all out on one acoustic!
We certainly noticed a significant difference between each pack, comment below your opinions we would love to hear what you all think!

I'm trying the Alu Bronze next, the clarity is just so 'clear'
I have a d18 with earthwood PB medium lights I think from this video that the 80/20 is actually sound better I'm going to have to give them a try. Most of my music is strumming with me singing and it just sounded like the 80/20 is a better Strummer
Rosewood back and sides versus Mahogany back and side is a good and worthwhile comparison.
For ‘paradigm’ read ‘quiet’. I liked all the rest, though they did differ more than I expected. The aluminium strings were a revelation for me. I didn’t think I would like them, but I did. I’m definitely going to try the Earthwoods and the Aluminium.
Such a great video for us guitar nerds…! (my wife’s comment is: “What’s wrong with you all?”)
Aluminum bronze sounds really good on that guitar…. They need a new coated formula… Those sound really muted…
Guys give me you're opinion .who is the best .phosphore bronze or bronze???
Thank vou very much for help us to choose
Jack js very lovely ???? so cute ????
Danke!!!
You know that Martin your playing well is it a Martin or a cheap rubbish guitar because that’s how those Ernie ball strings sound
Paradigm phosphor bronze is too nice
Phosphor bronze or bronze alloys always sound better to me than the aluminum alloys. I always bounce back and forth between the two because I’m so indecisive on what I like better. After I use say PB for a while and switch to 80/20, I think 80/20 sound amazing and better. But then vice versa, I will think PB sound better when I switch back. Usually I’m using medium light regardless.
The earthwood varieties are my favorites among all acoustic string brands though. Elixirs are second for acoustic for me and feel nice too, better than D’addario acoustic strings which always feel more “violent” on my fingers.
However, on electric guitar I typically prefer D’addario over EB. I’ll use a variety of gauges and they always feel consistently good while maintaining tune very well. I do like Elixirs too on electric, but usually only use them to switch things up. Sometimes I even just get tired of the same packaging and will rotate through some EB varieties for a change though.
Like you, I’ve tried most guitar strings and keep returning to PB. The Ernie Ball AB are also a contender as an alternate choice. Nice presentation. ????
I really love phosphor bronze
Paradigm phophorus bronze sound nice. I kinda like the twang of the Aluminiums too!! One of the everlast coated even sounded good. Paradigm phophor bronze are the winner imo. But i personally like even lighter strings. The rock/blues earthwoods i like. Some elixirs are good too.
Aluminum Bronze sounded best in lows, mids and highs. Great clarity and smooth round bass. Mids were well balanced.
Everlasts had the strangest mids to my ear. The rest was more or less even with Earthwoods most dark I think.
Earthwood Medium Light
Which earthwood strings are made of nylon?
Aluminium Bronze and Everlast 80/20 are the best! 🙂
Wanna buy unwound 3rd string (G) for acoustic guitar, which brand should I buy – advise me please, Thank you. If only Earthwood, please tell the SKU number.
