I feel like you modern fretless bass has some absurd body shape with way too many strings(that more than 4 for anyone counting), have a farty sound from overplaying and tasteless line, but most of all they are just hideous looking (Fender Jazz is the exception) but this sweet beast I’m looking at here could probably convince me into buying a fretless. It’s sharp looking for sure. It would be the perfect bass to use in Worship Band at church on all the softer ambient sections the the nord electro players seems to just hog up everything. Meanwhile our old B3 with two matching leslies just sits in the backstage closet gathering dust which is a whole other atrocity made by modern worship music. We need to bring back the soul, blues, and R&B, and date I say rock elements and play real gospel music like you hear at some authentic black Pentecostal churches down south. My brothers and sisters know down there. The Holy Spirit operates on the wave length of a Leslie box down home. If you know than you know!!! Wow quite a tangent that started about a cool fretless bass, on second thought I’ll stick to my 72 RIC 4001 in autumn-glo!
serious question here: I hesitate slapping my fretless because I am afraid it might ruin the fretboard. Am I wrong or can I just, you know, slap the hell out of it?
moral of the story, play however you want and don’t listen to people who say there’s “rules” to music.

I have the eBow and the fretless. I did try using them together for one project for a friend, but I think he rejected all the parts that I sent him. Doesn’t mean I can’t use it in my own stuff.

Fretless slap part is backwards from the middle to the end

Slapping should be alright with flatwounds (which most fretlesses come with) but if you swap them out for some round wounds that fretboard will get worn down. Apparently a coat of lacquer helps prevent this

I acquired a fretless Bass by accident, it sat in the room for a coupla three weeks, then I picked it up when turned out the lights and got hooked line and sinkered.
