And here is word from creator himself: I can chime in on this! Because it uses the more stable op amps and not transistors, it doesn’t quite clean up the same way as a fuzzface, but instead offers more transparent saturation that can be placed anywhere in the chain, unlike the very finicky fuzz face circuit. The addition of the clean blend helps to get that dialed back overdrive in a more interesting parallel clean/fuzz kinda way. That being said you can do the dial back thing as seen here, it’s just more subtle.
