Behringer UC200 Ultra Chorus (Review)

We have previously looked at the Behringer TO800 Vintage Tube Overdrive and OD300 Overdrive Distortion pedals. In this video, we look at another affordable pedal from Behringer, the Behringer UC200 Ultra Chorus. I bought it from Amazon UK for under £20 (links below).

The UC200 is a stereo chorus pedal and can be used with guitar, bass and keyboards. The enclosure is is plastic and, while it may not endure the rigours of heavy touring, should be fine for home use and is particularly good for beginners and use in the studio.

  • Great review! I've just bought one because your video. One question: Why do you use the behringer chorus if you have chorus effect into the HX Stomp? Best Regards from Argentina! Federico.

  • The “stereo” feature on this pedal is wet/dry, one is just mono through and the other is the effect signal and I believe it can go 100 percent wet if something is plugged into the through out. This pedal really shines running through two separate amps and speakers so you get the chorus on one amp and “dry” signal to the other, essentially a poor man’s Wet/Dry rig. It’s a good chorus pedal but there’s better ones for just single amp rigs I think.

  • Great review, god to see a review based on a very clean sound!
Many reviewers start by a slightly distorted or overdriven sound, which disturbes good evaluation of the pedal under review , your clean sound gives a much better image of the pedal you are reviewing! ????????

  • Great review, these pedals sound great, if they were in a metal case they'd be quite expensive ????Stunning guitar ????

  • I remember coming across you on some other guitar related vid! Orange is the BEST COLOR!

With that said, Behringer is an awesome brand for what they are. I dug into the history and it turns out Behringer is absolutely legit as hell. If you're a builder of boutique pedals, chances are you're ordering your vintage parts from them – Behringer has a lot of companies for music products and it just so happens that they also aquire the plans of many vintage pedals once they're discontinued.

This pedal here is a great example. It's an exact replica of the Boss CH-1, hence why the knobs are even in the same locations. You could say it's a 'rip off', but it's not. It's an actual Boss CH-1, using the same parts and same plans. A true replica of the internal board. So unless you just want to brag about spending hundreds on an actual Boss via Reverb, the Berhinger doesn't just come close, it literally sounds the same because internally? It is the same. Yeah they cut corners with plastic cases but one of the other reasons why Berhinger is so cheap is because they literally have their own city in China. From beginning to end, they control the entrie breadth of their manufacturing process which, I can tell you from experiance in building production lines? Makes production deceptively cheap. You're actually getting decent quality, contrary to the impression that the plastic case gives you.

For a home player or for one who's always got their pedals on a board, berhinger is just fine. In fact I'd take the Berhinger over it's Boss counterpart because if the Berhinger gets stolen or lost during travel, it's no big deal.

And in today's lovely economy… Behringer is cheap enough to offset that inflation we are feeling. So we can still gig on a budget with top end sound, just with modest equipment that doesn't have the badge of brag. Lol

    Nice video!

  • Nobody has ever broken the plastic case on a Behringer pedal. EVER!
Please only dispute this truth if you have photographic evidence.

  • Yes, sounds like stereo to me – just bought one for a little over £17 on amazon – for the price, why not! 😉

  • For those who are wondering…here are some of the songs that I spotted in this video:

7:11 Bryan Adams – "Run to you"
    8:03 Crowded House – "Don't dream it's over"
    9:01 Marillion – "Easter"
    10:22 Prince – "Purple Rain"
10:41 Nirvana – "Come as you are"
    12:04 Sting – "I hung my head"

If anyone can complete the list, please feel free to do so. 🙂

  • Ive had the vintage delay for 3 years, hard touring…. as long as you dont step on them and use a switch loop pedal instead, their fairly decent.

  • Nice to see a review where the choice of songs showcased the effect rather than being a 20 minute self-indulgent shred session. Echo Beach thrown in really caught my attention, so you have yourself another subscriber. I like Behringer pedals – and I’d buy this one if I didn’t already use a 30 year old Rocktek that’s still going strong.

  • I use them with synths at home. Lots of fun for little money. The Behringer Vintage Phaser VP1 is also very good and made of metal.
