???? The most revered guitarist of his generation? Bea and Matt return to the Sound Like stage with Sir David Of Gilmourshire in their sights.

Titan of tone, sorcerer of sounds – how close can Bea and Matt get the Pink Floyd legend’s sound? Er, on a budget…

They’re just focussing on the cleaner, phasey sound for which Gilmour is known best. Maybe they can revisit some other sounds in a future video – let us know if you’d like that.

The gear they chose is as follows…

Fender Standard Stratocaster Plus Top, aged cherry burst https://goo.gl/CzNmGg – This product is currently unavailable, but check out our massive range of Fender gear here! – http://tinyurl.com/y3yvc6y3

Fender Hot Rod Deluxe – https://goo.gl/38a8GZ

MXR Phase 90 – https://goo.gl/w5JDKS

Tone City Tape Machine Delay – https://goo.gl/yR6dT8

MXR Dyna Comp – https://goo.gl/tK25jb

ps. we think they mean ‘ethereal’.

  • Solid choice of gear. Good to show you how you can achieve Gilmour's sounds without having to buy the exact gear he uses.

  • I never caught this before: Rabea says: All the American Strats are made in Corona. You're practically in Mexico anyway. So, what's the difference? ????????????

  • You guys do realize that playing through either rig in a 90,000 seat football stadium would likely sound identical with a few tweaks. Jmho.Davids tone is in his fingers and mind.

  • Those tones makes a person want to start writing and recording music. I have been playing for years and always was willing to share creative input but never recorded anything but some phone videos that are garbage. Those four notes split me down the middle! Great job on this one!!!!!!

  • "Etheral is a good word!" "Yeah, I'm proud of that one!" Whoops! It isn't even a word. (I think the word you are looking for is ethereal.)

  • Busted the bank on the first buy.
You can do this for 50 bucks with a computer. Line 6. Guitar pro.

  • If you want the distortion from his solos, add a big muff or fuzz face silicone transistor (blue).

  • Thanks for naming the riff… I was completely lost ????
No really , great tone , thanks for the tips I’ll be using it

  • This was 7 years ago but the delay should have been after the compressor.

Still useful information though, even today. Thanks.

  • Great video I bought the phaser 90 and dyna comp ( deluxe) but used the line 6 dl4 delay ( which i already had) set on tape delay , and it sound awesome . Love this series , can usually substitute pedals I have in addition to things you guys suggest to achieve same results. Keep up the good work.

  • What an advert. Theses people are just SELLING YOU kit. A Gilmour Sound sounds the same regardless of what you play and take those 'four notes' away and you have nada with this lot. Telly Selly stuff………………………

  • this actually sounds like gilmour! The sad part is: this is only ONE of his many great tones…probably need a hole lot of gear to dial in all of gilmour's tones

  • Any chance Rab does a video trying to achieve the same on a modeling amp? Katana or Mustang?

  • I'm a les Paul guy all day, twice on sundays, but about 10 years ago I decided to add a strat to my collection. I'm a huge Gilmore fan, but I did NOT want a red guitar, so of course the black was what I gravitated to. Went to GC to play some strats and see what I wanted. In my honest opinion, the biggest difference between the MIA and the MIM fender was the price. I could swing either, I was single so no need to explain a 1k guitar on a whim to a main squeeze. Tone, feel, and quality were so close I felt just fine bringing home the MIM version.

  • Not really on budget config. Dude, you spent a lot to build a single tone! I think if you were really on budget the best strategy is to buy the cheapest Squier and change the pickups to David Gilmour’s DG-20s. Also you had to add a big muff and an electric mistress. Mooer elec lady is also a cheap option. Anyway, nice approach but has a lot of space for improvement.

  • Half a century after we sent a man to the moon and Fender still can't make a decent guitar without buzz.
