Furious, focused, and expansive, the playing of Nita Strauss is the stuff emerging-rock-guitar legends are made of. During soundcheck at Nashville’s Basement East, PG’s John Bohlinger checked in with Strauss, who was on a break from her regular gig with Alice Cooper, touring in support of her debut solo album, Controlled Chaos. Strauss wrote, produced, engineered, and recorded all the guitar and bass parts on the album, which, in testament to her abilities and her fan base, was made via a Kickstarter campaign that exceeded its $20,000 goal by $145,755. As she rips for our cameras, Strauss, the first woman to have an Ibanez signature model—which debuted at Winter NAMM 2018—talks about her JIVA10 and her backup S6570Q, and puts her easy-traveling rig, a Boss GT-100, though her core settings. Check out how Strauss shows off the JIVA10’s radical tuning stability at the 15-minute mark! And yes, she is a descendent of the Austrian composer Johann Strauss.

  • Personally I like Nita but maple isn’t my thing for live music when I played deathcore band mahogany ebony fret board maple neck stainless steel frets I had a custom shop V with a 85/81 emg set but I swapped the neck to the bridge position and a 60 in the neck I rerouted the wiring straight to volume straight to output and if I rolled back the volume back on the neck position beautiful cleans personally I used Ernie balls always have went from super slinky 9-42s and when I was in my death core band I used 12-62s for drop A and baratone slinky’s for my 30 inch baratone then I if we played in c# skinny top heavy bottom

  • Nita is notably knowledgeable as is her explosive enthusiasm as a person and musician. Pulsating creativity and the power of a battery of rocketry. Blow me away, as you do, Nita Strauss.

  • It's impressive how this girl (and incredible artist!!) is so calm and pleasant in interviews, at the same time that she is so determined in her choices about the instrument. I also think it's incredible how well she knows her work, her instruments and equipment… Congratulations Nita, you deserve all of this and much more to come!! A big hug from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil!!

  • I love the clean tone. Anyone know what effects she's using to get it in her Boss pedal? Can I replicate it in my Fender gtx100?

  • I currently have an rga42fml model and eventually I would love to upgrade. I grew up playing right handed bass, now I’m starting from scratch because I’m actually left handed. Nita you rock!

  • In my humble opinion (now that I have it in my hands) what sets this guitar apart from other superstrats are the pickups. Those Pandemoniums are incredible and working together with the True Velvet they make your mind explode. It's my first superstrat that has some of the Stratocaster sound with a thinner neck, comfortable and fast for those of us with small hands.
The craftsmanship and attention to detail leave a lot to be desired in Indonesia. Although these are problems I have solved at home. But the materials are really high quality and those pickups are pure "Pata Negra", as we say in Spain.
    Cheers.

  • Not to mention pick up don't make a whole lot of difference with high gain but you will hear a different with the EMG to one and high gain clean tones but whatever keep binding to the Seymour Duncan d***
