The Top 10 Les Paul Riffs of All Time!
What makes for a great guitar riff? Is it complexity? Tone? Rudeness? The ability to make you move? Instant recognition? All of the above?
Of course, it’s a subjective topic, but when we decided to cast an eye back on the decades and decades of phenomenal riffs to have been recorded just on a single type of guitar, we quickly realised that the challenge of picking just 10 was near enough impossible.
That shows just how impactful the iconic Gibson Les Paul has been on the course of popular music over the last 60+ years, and the power that a well-written riff can wield!
These are the Peach Guitars Top 10 Les Paul riffs of all time, and we’re almost certain that you won’t agree entirely. So, let us know in the comments if you think we’ve missed your favourite LP riff, or if you think we nailed it!

nice demo and playing, I think Whole Lotta Love also lets the open D ring out along with the D 5th fret 5th string.
It all sounds so old school, and not in a good way
Do Gibson is the Lamborghini of guitar?
Isn’t albatross played in centre position? Out of phase ?
I miss are you gonna my way & black dog in this list
Fabulous playing, and after watching this I gave up MY aims to be a guitar player!
Thanks for this, amazing sounds and so fabulously played here!
Absolutely
Oasis? Noooo????
Who knew Spider-man could play guitar
Be great to learn about the amp used to record this video. Great tone!
needed some Aerosmith i there
I just saw this … fantastic playing and loved the countdown. Is ironic that number 1 was actually recorded with a Tele not a Les Paul … though Page would play it live on a LP.
I could be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Peter Green borrowed Jeremy Spencer's Stratocaster to record Albatross
peter parker?
whats the riff on that first one .15 seconds?
I could watch anything this dude plays and be happy… man Peach Guitars is really luck to have you!
I would have added something from:
1. Allman Brothers
2. AC/DC
Not only because they are my personal favorites, but also because their songs have mass appeal and worldwide recognition.
Sorry but you played whole lotta love wrong .jimmy plays an alternate picking that gives the right groove to the riff.
This list could have and maybe should have been 75% Zep and GnR
I really liked your telecaster video, but this list, the first half of this list is really not for me. Knopfler also plays his riff differently.
Interstate Love Song
And probably the most turned off song every time it comes on the radio. Sweet sanity of mine
Sorry Jack, I'm not buying this list. Some of the those 'honorable mentions' are all-time classics (Stones, Zep, Bowie), while a few included riffs were more like honorable mention material. How about Dickey Betts, Tom Scholz, Adam Jones, Stone Gossard, Jerry Cantrell, etc.?
I think Jeff Beck's "Because We've Ended as Lovers" should have gotten at least an honorable mention.
I think Noel Gallagher's Les Paul was given to him by Johnny Marr. If I remember the story correctly, Marr was kind of thinking he was just loaning it to him, but then the next time he saw it Gallagher had had it refinished.
